BIG BOOST!! a little scary..

Just finished installing my HKS downpipe when I noticed there was an exaust leak. Unbolted it from the cat and replaced the gasket, no more leak. Now I noticed my boost is hitting 13-15 psi... Could this be controlled with a homedepot boost controller or do I need to be looking elsewhere for someother problem??

BTW.. I have the stock main cat and stock intake. I also checked all of the vacum lines that could cause over boosting, all seem to be in order..

any Ideas??

also..

its not spiking, the boost stays around 10psi before 4500 but past that the boost just keeps building until the computer hits the fuel cut.

i have the same problem...with a dp and cb i saw 13psi WOT. what we both need is to either get a boost controller to keep boost down or get a upgraded ecu.

I had the same problem when I first put on my dp with my cb. I was spiking at 16psi. You should definitely look into getting an aftermarket ecu soon.

he is right the home depo boost controler can only be used to bleed boost so the ecu doesn't see it.Turbo's are spining 13 psi, you bleed off 3 from the sensor that goes to the computer, computer see's 10 psi and everyone is happy.

To keep boost down you need a electonic boost controller.

Uh....am I the only one seeing something wrong with this?

Turbo's are pushing 13psi, but ECU only sees 10psi...can you say LEAN condition?

this little gizmo works alot better than the home depot valve for dialing out boost spikes imo http://www.dawesdevices.com/boost.html

I've had mine for several years and love it

you may have a kinked vacuum line

????????????????????????????????????????????????

not to be an *** but that is not what the home made boost controller does..

it works by giving you controll over the ammount of air going in to your turbo pre controll and your wastegate thereby controlling your perspool and rate of dump. This system is only limited by the size of the wastegate. Hopefully im not flowing so much air that my wastegate is overwelmed..

When I first read this, I thought WRONG!, but there is something to this. If your were to put a vent valve on the Map sensor line you may be able to fool the sensor into thinking there is less boost, but this just seems plain stupid to actually do when messing with a stock ECU.
