Better/easier a/c relocation?

I love how people have put gauges were the a/c ***** are, I think it looks great and like it came from the factory. Now here's my idea, no not putting them into the shifter console. I was think getting a blank DIN plate and move the heat/cold and the **** that directs the air to chosen vents to the DIN plate. You don't have to hack up your console, and if you mess up on the DIN plate I am sure you can find another one. According to the manual you must take off the collar that goes around the steering shaft, remove the ash tray, shifter center console piece, the console, gauge hood with gauges, and then you can finally remove the panel that houses the A/C components. Then relocate the 2 ***** to the DIN, by doing this you can keep your shifter console in tacked and still have a play to put your penny's. What do you guys think about this idea of a better/easier a/c relocation?

Here is the diagram...

So when I decide to do this I take it im going to have to cut it out to 52mm in the a/c panel so I can get the color change with the **** and for the vent direction **** do the same thing. Then get those 2 units and extend the wires about 6", this sounds like a easy task that can improve the look of the interior. I will have to find out for myself.

Why not just put your gauges in the DIN plate and call it a day?

I already have 1 gauge in the din, but if they were in the ***** place they would look much better.

dont really like the idea. its a lot of work. gauges there look out of place to me, and not factory at all.

No, I meant putting the ***** in the 2nd din below the radio, so you dont have to modify the shifter console and only have to modify a DIN Plate

This would require the same amount of work and you would still have to hack-up your A/C panel (which is a lot more expensive than the console panel). And for what... to move the A/C controls a few inches below? If you are so hell-bent on doing this mod, why not find a DIN location A/C controls like the ones in old Ford Taurus and addapt the wiring to that and save you the trouble of having to bondo and mold the RX controls into a new DIN plate. Because unless you have done something like this before or have professional experience in this type of mod you will not improve the look of the interior, but only disrupt the clean design and have it looking ghetto.

I am not hell bent about doing this, was just a idea on a better location to move the *****. I have seen a shifter console sell for 150$!!! A DIN plate would be much much much less then that. Due to the work involved I can't see myself doing this just to move the gauges to a different spot. If I did go through with it I assure you, it would look as close to factory as possible. I like a clean looking car, and if there is a way to enhance it in anyway i'll look into it.
