Question Which is better ?

I have to go in (drop sub frame) to rectify a low oil pressure problem , my oil pan is severly dented ,I am 99% sure that the bottom is touching the oil pick up causing the pump to "starve".Whilst I'm in there I want to do something with my oil pan , either "upgrade" to GZ pan or put in a Gotham brace , which is the better choice , who has been using the GZ pan ,? are there any problems with it ? , what about clearance issues , have you ever hit anything with it ?

Dry sump? Sure thing if you are going to spend a few thousand $$ on it.

My car has the GZ pan.

Pros: increased oil capacity
rigidity

Cons: raises the engine a bit. Can be a problem with intercooler pipes if they are not stock.
hitting big rocks at 60 MPH can break it.
(though, hitting a big rock at 60 MPH with a stock pan could likely do plenty of damage)
The o-ring is not a sufficient seal in my experience. It still needs gasket sealer.
No place for the oil level gauge sending unit.

What about price , looking at both , the only advantage the GZ oil pan has over the brace is the larger ( one quart ) capacity , is holding an extra quart worth $450 + dollars ?, I seriously doubt it , I dont see the need for it , my oil temps run at 150F an under on the highway and 180F when I'm caught in crawling traffic. And besides , a guy here had my exact same problem , he said after checking everything and finding that everything was ok , he dropped his pan and foung that the oil pomp's pickup strainer was making contact with the pan , (there was a big shiny spot) he took off the baffel plate and knocked the bottom back out with a piece of wood , he knocked it right out forming a concaved bottom in the sump , this increased his capacity by just over half a quart !
In my opinion the brace achieves the more important thing , which is stiffening up the motor and this is done at a very competitive price , I'm also not comfortable with having that cast pan hanging on so low underthere! i think I'm sold on the brace.

So how tick is the Gotham brace anyway , what length studs will I have to get ? and what about the motor mount bolts will they be long enough ? . Anyone thought of and actually tried making something like this out of say 1/2" steel and welding it to the oil pan flange ?

AFAIK the Gotham kit comes with the required studs or can be purchased at the same time.

It's the same pan already discussed in the other thread.

I would NOT run one of those aftermarket oil pans....the stock one will dent on impact, the aftermarket ones fail on impact....no thanks.
