Question the best year????

As you saw from my last post, I am possibly going to buy an rx7. Now from all the info Ive read, the 93 seems to suck! Should I get a 94 or 95 instead? What do you think the best year is?

Thanks

1993 RX-7 does NOT suck. It just has a few problems being the first year of the 3rd gen rx7. The interior peels a little, the exterior paint tends to mess up, etc... The 1994 or 1995 is better, but the 1993 doesn't suck.

You should not think of it as "The 93's suck", but rather the 93's were 1st year that they were sold in the US. There were (from what I understand) more issues and bugs with the 93's than with the later models. You can think of them as getting better with the production year.
I personally have a 93 FD and I do not think it "sucks". Granted I have only had it for about a month, and I am the 3rd owner with the original engine and 61k miles on it. So far, the only significant problem I have had with the car is the bushings in the rear lower control arms need to be replaced. That is going to run me about $225. Not too bad.
Don't be too hard on the 93's, they may just require a little more TLC than some of the later years.

Search damnit! ..oh wait..you can't..

Seriously, there were a few issues with the 93 that were taken care of in the 94 and 95 model years, but remember there were dwindling numbers of 94 and 95 RX7's so there are few for sale and the few that are out there demand pretty hefty price tags that are deserving.

There are lot of 93's out there, most of them have had the 3 major recalls done to them, and most of them were immune to the dash and exterior paint peeling.

Watch this thread and Mahjik will post his complimentary reply with a few links that will help you along on your search for your very own FD..

Good luck..

Out of interest does anyone know what the improvements of the '99 are over the previous years besides the styling and extra hp?

Already got'em in another thread this person started.

DelSolVTEC,

As everyone else has said, the models are all pretty much the same (93-95). Of course the later the better, but you might not have the option.

There were 3 recalls done on the '93s, and they should have all been performed. They weren't anything major. The other problems like the interior panels and exterior paint will probably have already been taken care of on the car if you purchase a 93.

I'm in the process right now of repainting my interior panels myself.

The first production year of any car will have problems. Like Serge1 said, the newer the better.
