Best type of intake to get

i tried searching, i also called a few shops and so on. which do u guys think is the best intake. i got a reserve on the trust airnix intake, but i have heard from some i would be better off with a closed box intake like the m2. thing is i love the way the airnix nooks. anyways i know there are tons of types of intake out there and i was wondering which one u guys would reccomend.

Many people use "hot-air" style open intakes without problems but I wouldn't. I will either mod my stock box or (more likely) go with the M2, rx7fashion, or CWR "cold air" intake.

Stay away from the foam filter intakes. They don't filter worth a **** and will degrade over time. If you want an open style intake, get a Pettit, Apexi, or Blitz.

Who here has the Apex Intake? Is it working well for you guys? I like it, but i'm concerned w/ sucking in hot air.

The best open filters are K&N, APex (best), and blitz. DON'T Get Greddy AIrinx. I had it in my MR2 Turbo and it sucked in dirt after a while. the HKS one is just okay. They don't even flow that well really.

Karen, is that PVC piping I see as part of your intake? If it is, be carefull as that stuff literally becomes soft as rubber at 130F +.

You can get an open element if you can route/duct cold air to it as well.

The best open air box is Apexi. The web site no longer exsist but Apexi, Blitz, Greedy were tested. They all had simular flow patterns but the Apexi filtered the dirt the best.

So it would be ok to use the apex even if i didnt have any kind of cold air duct going towards it. But it might help if i had one of those air duct head lights, right?

The best intake to get is the ARC intake but its expensive... plus harder to find because ARC isn't really distributed in North America

I loved my apexi intake while I had it. Now I am going to fab something of my own because I can't get the apexi to fit with the m2 large ic.

Where can you get the Apexi cones? I plan on fabricating a custom cold air induction system and I know their cones flow the best. Any URLs would help.

I really liked my Apexi, but it doesn't fit with the PFS SMIC, so I ended up switching to the PFS cold air box. it is a nice piece, but I don't look forward to the eventuality of cleaning the filters... I think that is going to be an all day job.
