The best thing you did for you FD
I love my Mazdatrix short shifter I just picked up from Fritz Flynn, almost identical to my old Mazdaspeed shifter in my last fd, really makes the car feel much more solid and pleasurable to drive. Also, I put water/meth on every FD these days. It is simple and cheap insurance on your engine and turbos.
purchased it and returned it to stock.
was owned by a myriad of ricers that did all sorts of wtf things to it. still working on it but goal is to have a 90% stock looking car with toyota reliability.

Went single turbo seven years ago. Best move ever, had stock twins , BNR twins, no seq twins, new stock twins ... all just wasted years trying to make the stock turbo's last.
Not a single issue since I pulled the rats nest and 70's technology twins

What problems did you have with your twins?
This is a tough question. I thought about this recently. I love my water injection as an active counter measure against high intake temps but I can't appreciate it without the PFC for allowing me to monitor my intake temps among other things. The best thing for my car was probably my PFC even though it made me anxious to see my temps climb in traffic but the mod I enjoy most is water injection for not having to deal with most of that crap anymore. Great thread revive.
Some of the simpler things that make a huge difference:
1) Hood struts: Anyone with a BB in the summer sun knows what it's like
2) Mazdaspeed shifter bushing: The best bang-for-the-buck ever.

+1 on the hood struts. Another one for me was replacing the steering wheel to a flying M nardi. 10mm smaller in diameter, lighter, and aesthetically pleasing compared to stock
I think the best thing I did was install all the items I did. which is basically everything. New bushings, turbo, engine harness, tuned the car myself, redid the brakes, mazmart water pump, etc, etc.
I learned about the car and am much more conscious of things that are weak points in the car and understand what to do and not to do. I also know that those items are in good working condition and know how to maintain everything.
I will say, that the engine pan/mounts leaking oil even with an engine brace is a horrid design.

I've got a lot of great mods—JRZ's made a huge difference, StopTechs are great, wheels do a TON for the car. But honestly one of the best things was getting it painted... not much will enhance that keep-looking-back-at-it-while-you-walk-away pride the way that does.
Rebuilding the whole car... I know everything about it..what needs a little reinforcement...what is sound. I think what's going to bring it all together...is when I get the interior and exterior painted. Even as it sits now I can't keep my eyes off of it while walking away...can't Waite till it's caged/painted.
