best sounding Intake?
I searched but found so many opinions, so what is the best sounding intake for a FD? I like the sporty suction sound.
and what is the intake that gives most power gain?
Thanks

If you really want that "sucking sound" save ~$10k and go single with a ported shroud and you'll be satisfied.

You shouldn't be worried about the sound when you're looking for an intake, you should be concerned with it's performance. If you're looking to upgrade your intake you should get a box style intake that will provide air from outside the engine bay like SR motorsports or M2. I believe the turbo's will become more audible with most any modification to the intake, not 100% as I never really got a chance to boost my stock twins. Before they blew a seal I know I could hear them spooling with the slightest increase in throttle and that was just the K&N filters on polished rx7store pipes. The engine swap my brother did on a friends car ended up getting the SR motorsports intake box I had but never used and on his car you could also hear the turbo's spooling.
If you search about intakes you'll get a lot of info. It may not be about the sound but it will be about the reasons you should truly consider when modifying your intake.

Really only way you are going to spot a difference, which will be negligible at best is in an open vs closed intake. So an example of an open intake would be say hks or apexi & a closed intake would be like the m2 intake. The open intake would be slightly louder than the closed. Performance gains are the same across intakes. In the end, its mostly an aesthetic decision, but from what I have read and seen I would stay away from HKS filters as they do a **** poor job of filtering.
I think I have had 7 or so intakes on my fd, so this comes from personal experience not hearsay.

i'm actually working on changing the filters right now. I went over to AEM yesterday and got some free filters (Thanks JC!) so I''ll be be putting those on. My friend ryan(Rspec) FD got a velocity stack and filter for his TO4Z. HKS foam filters suck *****. It as pretty cool to see their shop with so many projects they're working on. They have a 240z that they're working on for Bonneville. They also has a stock looking red FD with a bunch of piping next to it laid out onthe floor. I wonder what their plan was for that.
