Best smaller battery (knight sport bracket tray)
So I got a knight sport battery tray. So it fits smaller batteries in the stock location.
what’s everyone’s experience with smaller batteries? Which one do you guys recommend?
i believe there is the odyssey pc680?
optima yellow top d51r? $300
i should replace the 12v battery any day now, so might as well change to the smaller one w the new battery tray.

i've been looking at the Shorai batteries. it seems like there are fake versions, so while its light, and expensive, its also maybe possible to get a fake, maybe not the best suggestion

There's a big discussion over at the Miata club about lightweight batteries. These EarthX LIfePos seem to be the choice over there.
Here's the MX5 guys' "money isn't an issue" option: https://antigravitybatteries.com/pro...ive/ag-51r-rs/
I personally ran a Braille battery for years in my FD with no issues too.

I have the 51R tray from GA/Turbojeff
After fitting a yellow optima, i sent it back and went with a stock size agm with oem batterybox. I dont see the point in downsizing unless i also move it or use a larger IC setup. All it does is leave a gaping hole and uncovered battery.

Superstart AGM, part # ETX30LA (Oreilly’s.) It’s their highest CCA motorcycle battery, that is reasonably sized.
I’m sure there are a lot of better options, but this is relatively affordable, available, and works. The only thing is you have to adapt or change your terminals to smaller rings.
400CCA (near the minimum for the FD, but cranked just fine when I bought my car and was flooded)
7” x 6 3/4” x 5 3/4”. Not the smallest, but still tiny in comparison. Can pick it up with one hand.
👍✌️

I had the 10lb braille for a little while in my car before switching to a magnapower. Turns out deka, magnapower and braille are the "same". The magnapower has been in my car since 2018 with no issues. Its the same as 10lb braille. I used the pc680 for quite some time in multiple cars but they all ended up going bad. Probably something I was doing but I haven't had such an issue since switching over.
My car has just about everything deleted out of it so electrically the smaller battery is fine. I'm not sure how well it would work in a fully equipped car. My battery is also under my dash on the passenger side. The smaller size made relocation a lot easier

IMHO, unless you really NEED a smaller battery to fit a larger IC, or if you need to shave the weight a bit for actual track competition, you're better served by sticking with the normal stock sized battery that you can get anywhere. If I'm traveling thru the boonies and I need a replacement battery, it's nice to know I can find one at any Walmart or the local yokel auto parts retailer.
