Im gonna say that the parts in the rebuild are only part of the equation. I think the most important part is the installation of the products. The engine builder can make or break a rebuild. Then, I also think a proper breakin/tune is another key factor. The parts used in the rebuild are just iceing on the cake in my opinion...Just as long as they arent straight ****. You know what I mean though.

Also, If you just dont beat on your car 24/7, and you do routein maintainence it should be pretty reliable. The closer to stock the better reliability these cars seem to have. Its only when you start throwing lots of boost and whatnot they start to get fussy. Just opinion.

Thanks for the comment. I have seen some bad press on some parts, and thought that some people may have a few strong experiences to relate.

Despite all of the aftermarket stuff out there, the Mazda OEM seals and parts are probably the best to use for most applications.

Don't forget new rotor housings as well.

For a stock or <300rwhp car on a budget <$2000:

--good used rotorhousings, irons, and rotors
--replace front and rear main bearings
--thermowax pellet from atkins
--atkins gasket kit (coolant seals are same as OEM)
--mazda 2mm seals (atkins will work well with used housings too)
--atkins solid corner seals
--atkins viton oil orings
--new corner seal springs
--new apex seal springs
--hose job
--pulsation dampner
--thermostat
--clean injectors
--reuse everything else

Modded car >300rwhp, budget <$2000:

--same as above except 3mm mazda seals and springs, and solid corners

Either setup, budget >$2000:

same as first list, add
--new rotorhousings
--new oil control ring carriers (the metal part)
--new side seal springs
--rebuild turbos (unless going with a new single)
