Best Miniature Racing battery Thread??
Hi all , I've seen countless threads on battery relocation , but I havn't seen any on batterys ! I already have mine relocated , but I am in the market for a battery as well as some sort of custom tank for my WI system . I am thinking of welding up my current aluminum battery box , turning it into a water tank , and using a high power miniture battery , that would mount to the side of the box/ tanx. I did a bit of checking and came across the VARLEY RED TOP HIGH PERFORMANCE RACING battery . Is this battery good for street use ? I mean its got from 200 to 1400 cranking amps ! I expect one of them should be suitable for the street ?? anyone have experience with this brand?

I can't recommend any particular brand, but here is some good general info on battery types. IMO, the AGM batteries are the best.

For racing use, you are probably better off asking people that actually race.
While I don't race like DaveW does, I've seen more than a few race cars with a full sized battery located in a legal box somewhere around where the passenger seat used to be or pass bin. Race cars tend to sit for long periods of time so better to use a battery that can handle that.

In racing every pound helps. I have the 700 model. Yes expensive, but i feel well worth it. Mind you, i got this before they jacked their prices.

I hate the PC680. If you are working on the car and it doesn't start by the second try you will need to recharge. Then if you let it sit a couple weeks the alarm is enough to kill it.
I have the Odyssey 925 (mounted in storage bin) which seems to have about 2 or 3x the charge but still more would be nice. I certainly would not go any smaller than the 925

It is not clear to me that any racing battery is worth it for a non track-only FD given the starting/drain issues that pretty much all of them exhibit. The Westco battery is only 5-10 lbs heavier than a typical racing battery, is only marginally larger, is a fraction of the cost, and, from my experience and other reports, works pretty much like the stock battery.

I am looking for a "more street less strip" battery , the smaller the better . I will also be running a sound system which would be powered by one 5 channel 850 watt amp.

Sorry bro, working on your car one of the issues i am having getting a compression test is the battery is dead i need to charge it now.....
I think the pc925t is the best mini battery..This is as small as I would want to go.
pc680 is a great track car battery but you still need to charge it after stting for more than 5 days or so...

Mine sits for weeks at a time, no problem. When it's parked in the garage, I just pop the hood and push the button on the breaker.
Also a good idea if you work on your car much. I learned some time ago to always disconnect the battery - much easier with a circuit breaker.
FYI: Phoenix Gold 150 Amp.
