Question Best Fuel Filter

What is the best brand of fuel filter to replace the stock one in a fd? Should I get another stock one or are the cheap ones at the local Advance Auto sufficient? Thanks

Are you kidding ? When it comes to the fuel system don't even think about playing around with the cheap auto parts stores. Strictly Mazda OEM is the only way to go. BTW, who is going to do the job for you ? It's a biaatch of a job.....probably the ONLY job that I would let the dealership handle.

Hmmm... just heard from the parts manager at my local store who is an RX NUT that the oem filters are really re-painted fram's.

I'm going with the K&N with the cleanable element. Going to place it in the engine compartment. It has a tighter element (ten micron versus 30 something) and flows faster. Check other posts for the same thing. just my $0.02

I would think the K&N one is one of the better ones.

For some reason I thought that it was no good to put the filter in the engine compartment. I believe that it was because of excessive heat. Are the aftermarket filters a bolt in replacement?

Regards, Matt

Ten micron Filter passes more fuel than a 30 micron filter? I think not... Mabay a Ten micron "new" passes more fuel than a 30 micron filter "dirty" just my $.02

the K&N does need to be cleaned about every 3k miles, but it's easy to do.....I like to see how much crap it is catching anyway

Ditto... And it is only a pain the first time you replace it. After that you learn and can do it much faster.
