no such thing as the best exhaust. imo. its more of which exhaust is best for your need. Apex seems to be the hot item these days.

Is it better to get a downpipe and midpipe seperately? or as a "so to speak" combo? (already welded to each other as one piece)

i've got the apex gt spec and it's the ****! it's huge and is really loud. if you can't stand to be heard from far away, i'd stay away from it. i also have vrs downpipe and midpipe. i'm thinking i spent a tad under a grand after buying all of them. save a little more and getcha a power fc and you'd be good to go for a while. keep in mind, u'll have to replace the ecu or get a good boost controller if you plan on adding the midpipe. i learned the hard way

Um, not sure of any one that does the DP/MP combo, but the HKS SS/Ti 4" off road exhaust is DP/MP AND Cat Back

I think the Apexi N1 dual is way too loud. One of my friends has it on his Prelude and he gets pulled over all the time. I wouldn't draw unnecessary attention from the police if I were you.

hey aznphoenix,

Since you are in Cali, you may want to consider how loud these exhaust systems are. I got pulled over in under 5 minutes my first night out with a rice can exhaust.

Loud is nothing but trouble in California.

IMO i think that the Apexi systems sound kinda ricey with a MP and DP. I have the Blitz Nur Spec and i love it! it sounds so nice when you rump on it! but with a MP its really loud too. which is not such a good thing in cali.

What I've gathered form lots of exaust discussion on the forum is that Apex'i N1 dual is prefered for performance but if a really loud exaust is a turn off then the racing beat duals are really nice as well. Both have excelent quality and finish just make sure if you look at the rb duals their polished...

HKS has good gains, but they tend to be on the loud side. Greddy makes a good combo of not so loud and good power.

Racing Beat dual-tip!! Good flow and relatively quiet, even with dp and mp.

id vote racing beat. ive heard the racing beat dual, and its not loud at all. also has good power gains. however ive also heard the apexi gt. imo this exhaust should be used on a track only. it is 1 of the loudest, if not THE loudest exhaust you can buy. apexi's web site will tell you about it.

i will vouch for racing beat as well. it has a nice deep tone and is no where near loud. ive been pulled over numorous times over the past 2 years i have had my rb single tip and not one cop or highway patrol person gave notice to my modified exhaust. cali sucks btw.

no, i have the gt i think (does it has the words APEX'i stamped on both sides of the tip). mine does not have any holes for a silencer but any shop can make a hole for it.

best performance, straight pipe all the way back. I originally replaced my stock catback with a 3" straight pipe. Surpprisingly good tone and nice performance jump not to mention the weight you shed. Then I added the DP and man, it's getting loud but still streetable. Next on the list is a midpipe but I think it'll be installed at the same time I buy a RB dual catback. Straight pipe all the way back would be deafening.

Rarely does anyone mention the PFS cat-back exhaust. Basically, it's a 3" mandrel bent cat-back with a 3" in 4" out "straight-thru" muffler. It's relatively quiet, and free flowing.

I'm running the Blitz NurSpec, imho, I think the quality is better then the Apexi, plus its cheaper, and even with both cats in sounds really deep at idle and not too loud at wot. Can't wait til I get my dp on and a high flow cat. I have an okay video clip and some pics on the car if you are interested. Send my a pm if interested, as I can just email them to you. Josh
