Unfortunately my baby's been sitting since about February.. being my first rotary & the longest she's sat, should I be Ok to hop in and crank it or are there any special precautionary things to be done first?

 

Replace fuel with fresh stuff , maybe a tuneup before you start it would be a good idea

 

Since it's less than a year, it's fine. Make sure the battery is charged and don't start it unless you intend to drive it or let it run for at least 10-15 minutes (so everything gets lubricated and warmed up properly before shutting down again).

Start it and drive it. Fuel should be fine. Change the oil if it is old at all.

 

I thought fuel starts to lose octane rating at about 2 months of storage ( except if you use a fuel stabalizer ) the problem would be lower octane rating may cause Detonation / knock if you push it

 

I would change the oil then pull the egi fuse and crank the motor for a few bursts of 10-15 seconds or until you begin to see oil pressure. Then replace the fuse and fire it up.

My mechanic says it's probably a good idea to put about a1/2 cap of motor oil into each rotor and turn it over by hand first to lube the seals and make sure it turns over OK and listen for any weird noises.

 

Start the car and don't drive it hard until you burn off the old gas. Jeez, its not rocket science, car has only been sitting for a few months.

Well, that's what I thought but figured it wouldn't hurt to make sure..
