Battery Relocation To Hatch question

Im going to relo my battery to the hatch since I use my bins for storage too much and my question is simple. Can I run the wiring for the relo under the car without having to drill my frame or firewall, but still have a safe reliable setup?

nice

I know I can run under the car from the engine bay and secure it in with straps, but how would I go up through the hatch to the inside?

I ran mine without any drilling but mine is inside one of my storage bins. If you take off your driver side front wheel, you can pull back the inner fender liner and see an untapped grommet that leads to the inside of the cab. The grommet can be removed, but I just used a knife to cut a slit in it. Then I just routed the huge wire through it. This way it can still provide some protection against moisture and what not. Using my method, however, you will have to take out the inside quarter panel, the plastic that conects the rear storage bins to the headliner. It pops right out. The only reason you have to take this out is so that you can run the wire under it for a good look. You can easily route this wire in about an hour or two to include taking out the interior piece, taking off the wheel, routing the wire through the grommet and everything. Give me a holler if you have any questions.

why would you want to run battery cable outside the car??

just run it through the firewall, then under the door sills, all the way to the back..thats how i did mine and you cant even see the wiring

figured under would be better but I like your way. Is it the same spot that the other guy was talking about behind the drivers fender liner?

If you run it through the fender liner and then under the door sills just pull off the interior panel where the rear speaker is and youll find plenty of room to pass that wire through to the trunk w/o drilling and keeping it hidden.

I used a full size Optima Red Top battery. You do not need to seal it since it is a gel type battery and will not explode. IMO there is also no need to seal a regular battery but if you are really safety conscious, I suppose it will not hurt. I do have a few pics of the install that I will be happy to post if you want me to. I do not typically look over past threads to see who has asked questions so if you want me to show you some pics just IM me and I will hook you up the best I can. Peace.
