battery question

I was wondering what battery will be good with a new system.Im looking into getting some new speakers and some amps.Around 1,000 watts.

I heard that optima is pretty good can any one rec. if the yellow or the red is better?

Optima isn't making their Yellow tops currently so if you are looking at Optima the Red Tops are all that you will find (for the time being that is).

not the red top, i just have a 12" JL W3 sub JL 501watt and a cap and that drains the battery.

OMG! So do I need 2 batteries? Maybe this is a mistake getting a system.Im not into the whole sound system gig. If I get this crap then I need to up my horse power for the added weight.And there goes another 5,000.

no you just a 1 deep cycle battery if you listen to music when the car is off for long periods of time if not then you are fine with a red top, im not into sound systems i just like a little base with my music.

Or just keep the battery you have and add a cap. I'm using a .47 F capacitor. Put it as close to the amp as you safely can. In effect, it lowers the impedance of the battery cable, in other words, when the amp draws a sudden discharge from the battery (loud sound) the cap. feeds the power and the voltage doesn't drop as much as it would if you didn't have the cap.

A cap will not help if your battery can't supply the power you're drawing, but unless you're into "loud car" contests, I doubt that will happen.

if he is going use 1000watts system when the car is off the cap wount help with the battery draining, forgot to mention that the cap im using is a 1.0 farad.

OK I have some what of idea of a ( cap) now and I will ask the guy to add that into the system.Im not into blasting my music really high just like to listen to it over my pretty loud exuast.And have some bass to it also.
