Now that the crossmember is on, it feels like the motor is straining to hit redline, where it was more free-reving before.

Seeing if anybody experienced this during install. Already ordered the rubber replacement from Autozone, so seeing if that helps.
I can tell you that no one has every asked me this question. There is really nothing about the crossmember that would inhibit rpms. Plug wires, boost leaks etc but not a structural piece.

As far as your previous post about the crossmember pushing everything out of alignment with everything else. This product actually aligns everything, so potentially you have a damaged PPF. The top mounting plate is slotted, if you still found it a struggle to install, then there is something wrong with another part. If your driveshaft is making contact with the PPF, that will cause a ton of noise and potentially slow the car down if it is binding enough. You can see the contact area on the one on the left.

Also PPF's can be bent but generally "look" fine. A friend's car had a bent PPF that pushed the end of the transmission up against the hole in the body for the shifter, enough so that it was touching the body. Pulled it off the car and compared to a good one, even studying them side by side you couldn't tell where the bend was or what was damaged. No cracks or obvious faults.

The car had been a single turbo car in a previous life and I think the PPF was bent from hard launches. The Banzai brace can keep this from happening in the first place but if it's already badly bent you may not be able to get everything to line up properly.

Im not surprised.

Poly motor mounts increase NVH, even with the little rubber bushings on either side of the subframe. Can’t speak fo poly diff mounts as I use Mazda comp there. If I installed this crossmember, I would expect a small increase in NVH. But it wouldn’t stop me from buying one. This is still on my wish list.

You'll love it when you get it Matt. I'm running it on 'Ol Yella.'

Never heard that a PPF can bend. I have seen cracked PPFs but never a bent one. Any way to measure the PPF to ensure everything is ok?

I had the bent PPF and a good PPF side by side, took pictures, and there really was no easy way to look at the bent one and tell it was bent. The only real test was when it was on the car - the shifter was pushed up against the hole in the floorboard it comes up through. Bolted the other one on, dead center.

This is after using different techniques to install it, tightening the bolts in the proper sequence, you name it. There's no question that PPF was bent. The bend was probably very subtle and just a little here and a little there, enough to move it out of whack.

That bent PPF was from a high HP single turbo car as well.

Anyhow, off the car there's no good way that I found to tell at least in that case. On the car it was easy - if the shifter isn't centered in the transmission hole, you've got a problem. Of course it could also be bad diff or engine mounts, but in my case they were both brand new poly mounts.

^ My PPF was bent, like Dale describes. Had no cracks, just a slight bend to it that threw it off. I wasn't even sure the PPF had an issue but decided to replace it with another one and sure enough, it was the culprit. I now use the Banzai transmission cross brace and the diff brace. Have been using them for almost 5 years. Great products.

Just installed the transmission crossmember and lets just say I wish I would have done this earlier! Shifting feels great and it almost eliminated my 5th gear grind hahahahahaha. I also noticed less back and forth jerking motion when letting off the gas on lower rpms. I love it! Peace.
