Walbro 450 fuel pump questions

I'm about to order a Walbro 450 pump to upgrade my fuel system. Perusing the Banzai Racing site, I see they offer 2 versions of the pump, only difference being the pressure that the internal relief valve opens at:
  • F90000267 87psi pressure relief valve
  • F90000274 112psi pressure relief valve
Cost difference between the two is negligible, but I was wondering if there is any advantage of one pump over the other? Like most folks, I'm running the typical 3bar/43.5psi differential fuel pressure. Which means that at say 20psi boost (not that I'll be pushing mine that high), the fuel rail pressure should hit around 63.5psi to maintain a steady 43.5psi differential pressure. Since that's well below the relief pressure of either pump, I think either pump will suffice, correct?

Also FWIW, I'm running a fuel pressure sensor on the rail with a Link G4+ ECU, so I can enable engine protections there.

Next related question, for those of you that purchased the IRP mounting kit for the Walbro 450 - what did you all think of it? Solid product, comes with good instructions, and did it save you significant time & effort in getting to a clean 450 pump installation on the OEM pump hanger? I'm confident I can fab up something myself that will result in a clean install, but my time & effort might not be worth it if the IRP kit can get it done faster/better.

Pete, I just did this. I went with the 87psi relief and the IRP mount. Just grab the IRP one that’s already setup with the plug and play ready to install. They have an option for the 450 pump as well. Make sure you get some new submersible fuel hose for the new pump, the one it comes with is a plastic one that doesn’t work. The mount is pretty slick and a super nice piece. Don’t waste your time with anything else. I had it changed in thirty minutes.

Thanks. Are you saying that the "complete" IRP kit they sell with the IRP pump bracket, 450 pump & pump/install kit doesn't include the correct hose, and you needed to source the correct size fuel submersible hose elsewhere?

From the pictures of their kit I’m assuming they do include a short piece of the correct hose . I know that the plastic hose that comes with a walbro install kit is too big for the fuel pump hanger feed tube. So if you don’t buy it from them as a kit and you piece it together, you’ll need a couple inches of submersible hose. Here is the link with some pictures.

The correct in tank hose is included in our complete kit. Walbro also offers a different style install kit with a flex hose which we do not use.
