Bad Water Temp Sensor?
Bad Water Temp Sensor?
i have a 93' FD, and i am using the HKS Fan Controller to control my fans and for water temp readings. The thing is, i've been getting readings of 130 C constantly, which can't be possible because thats super overheating and my car runs fine, the add coolant buzzer doesnt come on and nothing has broken. i just flushed the entire system last nite, burped the system and everything and im still getting these readings on the controller. now the controller taps into the wires going to the ECU. so i'm using the water temp or coolant temp wire that runs to the ECU. im can't remember which one it is exactly, but i'll go back and check. either way, there's no way i should be gettin a reading like this. whats bad? is it a bad water temp sensor? engine coolant temp sensor? or are these the same things? thermoswitch? should i take it to someone and get a diagnostic reading, see if its pullin any codes? any help would be awesome. thanks everyone
Water temp and coolant temp are the samething. There are three sensors, one that controls the fan (Thermoswitch on the back of the filler neck) one that is the sender for the stock temp gauge ( below the oil filter on the rear iron ) and the thermosensor that the ecu uses for coolant temps ( on the back of the filler neck ). Take a look at the service manual for the testing procedure for the thermosensor, and check/clean the grounds for your fan controler.
