Bad Tach?
I bought my fd back in april, and noticed after i picked it up that the tach appeared to be pinned at redline. is there a spring or something that keeps tension on the needle or what. I need some help. it woudl be greatly appreciated. thanks
XSTransAm can you please explain to me which one that is? i've been having a bit of a "bouncy" tach needle since i had my PFC installed and its been driving me nuts... i haven't been able to figure out how to fix it yet.
It sounds like your tach may just have bounced over to the high side. The tach will "fall" to either side - if you remove the gauge cluster you may be able to get it to "fall" back to zero by tilting it - likely though you'll have to remove the covers and move the needle manually. If it works after this, great; if not, borrow a cluster from another FD buddy to see if your tach is bad; if his doesn't work either, check wiring.
Why it would do that in the first place, however, other than having all power removed from the tach whilst at > 5k RPMs, I don't know...
