Bad rotor = rebuild?

I was doing lots of searches on here and suprisingly haven't found any good info yet on bad rotors. But, basically if you're told a rotor is bad it's time for a rebuild?. Not doubting the mechanics but wanted to learn and find info for myself as well.

Thanks

If the mechanic says"bad rotor", it's time to look for a new mechanic

get a compression test. That will tell you what is going on and with which rotor. As impact says, if they tell you "bad rotor" that doesn't mean anything...the rotor itself more than likely isn't bad...it's the apex seal in most cases or a corner seal which is less likely. either one going bad means rebuild yes.

It's the rear rotor, and I believe "it's shot" were the words.

haha yeah you dont hear that much, i mean its more than likely an apex seal, i have only seen one completly destroyed rotor and it was from detonation and had a hole through it.

Edit*

here it is haha

this is a bad rotor

It is A-Spec I am speaking of. I just felt I needed some more info and it was a bit vague. Again not doubting them, Ryan whom I spoke with sounds like a good guy and I have read the threads on them, I am just super paranoid about bringing my car to someone new since my old shop has limited rotary knowledge. I'm sure he can explain more to me just thought I would do some researching on my own as well and find things like the link RR posted (thanks, very helpful and great read).

Thanks all
