Bad oil leak-looking at BNR stage 2's...

Well, my situation is that my car is leaking oil pretty bad, and I'm guessing it's the turbo's. I've decided to bite the bullet and mod the hell out of my car since I'm going to put it in the shop (anyone know of any good credit card offers going around right now? <-seriously). I'm looking at getting the BNR stage 2 upgrade, but I'm worried that my 80,xxx mile engine will spit out some apex seals into my new turbos once I start driving it. Should I rebuild the turbos and wait until my engine blows?
Thanks, Jason

First off, bad turbos typically don't leak oil outside the unit - it's an internal leak that shows up as smoke in the exhaust, smoke from the turbo itself, a burning smell, etc.

I would moreso look at the oil return line and the oil pan/motor mount bolts for your oil leak. It's likely something more simple.

Dale's right, it's most likely another source, clean your engine carefully and then check over the next few days where the oil is actually leaking from.

I would never put new turbos on an 80k engine......

not with me....my twins used to dump oil all over the ground...both the primary and secondary...happend twice actually...the turbo city set and the set from @(*$*(#$*(@@

from under the car...shine a flashlight up and look at the compressor housings...you will see drips gathering all over the bottom of them and plenty of fresh oil residue if that is the case.

I'm going to take a look at my car this weekend and hopefully it will be that simple. I had a smaller oil leak before, and it was just an oil line that needed better fitting. This leak is actually a lot bigger than the one I had before-the car leaves a oil trail about 6 inches long and about an inch wide.
Thanks for the replys guys.

b tw...those bnrs are leaking straight out of the package last i heard.....you may want to save up some extra cash and get the m2 set or the 99s instead....i called up to rotary reliability the other day and they had a set of stage twos come in that very day with the compressor wheels completely fallen or broken off. the guy ran them for two weeks or so they said.

so be careful...the bnrs show much potential but right now it seems as if nine out of ten sets people are getting are having problems of some sort....they supposedly have restrictor pills in development...you may want to ask about that as well.

My BNR's stage 3's needed repair. Bryan changed something around because no longer do you need modified banjo bolts. They are perfect so far, not even a trace of smoke or oil from them.

Well, I'll be putting some stage 2's on a 110,000 mile engine very shortly. (Read: as soon as I get the turbos back from BNR). However, I plan on taking it easy on the car until this winter when I will probably rebuild the engine as a cautionary measure. I'll let you know how everything turns out.

BTW, my stock turbos were smoking pretty badly, but they weren't leaking any oil externally.

BNR stage 2's are o.k.. And i think BNR stage 3's are all taken care of.. You wanted stage 2 right??? I think you are clear from the oil buring problem.. I have not heard any problems with stage 2.. only stage 3.. Just want to clearify..
