Exclamation BAD oil leak, help required

ever since i got my fd it has been leaking oil. it leaks right around the turbos and it makes lots of smoke right above the turbos. it leaks about a quart per day (depending on how much you drive it). it will only leak down to the low mark on the dipstick, but only when its warm. i tried to fix this and basicly striped the engine and resealed everything that carrys oil that i could get to (turbos, including lines, oil metering pump, oil injector lines were replaced, tightend the oil pan,). my next attemp will be to remove the engine. if you have any ideas what could be causing this let me know.

Above the turbos are the oil feed lines. They use banjo bolts with 2 copper crush washers each to seal the lines to the turbos. Check these first

report back

do you mean the OMP lines or the lines that feed oil to the turbos?

The fact that it stops at low level on the dipstick, could be a clue that it is the oil pan that is leaking. Any leak source pressurized by the oil pump shoulsd keep leaking (while it's running) until you ran out of oil.

The oil pan can be resealed IN THE CAR. Here's a link to a useful thread on that:

i didnt know you could do that. how do you get to the (i think it was the driver side) bolts, they are covered by the subframe. i will have to try that sometime

i dont think it is the oil pan. there is a whole mess of oil around the turbos and intercooler pipes.

The engine has to be lifted as high as possible, and the rear of the subframe wedged down a bit (covered in the linked thread, IIRC) to do the job, and when you do, the pan bolts become accessible.
