Question Bad noise when I shift, HELP

K guys I gotta question/problem when I shift under heavy acceleration, right when i let off the clutch and hit the gas again I hear this thud from somewhere in the rear of my car. If I had to guess I would think its some kind of bushing. Anyone know what it is?

Run a search or diff bushings - there is a lot of info out there.

They are liquid filled units that sit up by the fuel filter. Lift the rear of the car and see if you can spot something funky there.

And do a good inspection of your powerplant frame. Might need a peek mirror and flashlight to do it well without removing it.

your tranny mount is broken. The first FD i almost got did it. When you accelerated heavy and shifted a big thud came from the hatch area. Its your tranny moving from the engine torque. It was estimated 2k to repair, and that is if nothing else has been messed up in the process.

^^ If it is the PPF ( or tranny mount as you call it) That Is NOT 2K to repair. Whoever gave you that quote was getting the KY ready for you

A NEW Mazdaspeed PPF is only 4-450 bucks. Then to install it, It takes me less than 1 hour to do. So at MY labor rate , you would have a big grand total of 60 dollars labor plus parts ( gaskets for the exhaust etc..)

These cars are not that horribly difficult to work on. They can be confusing for a service tech that has heard bad stories about them. Then they feel they can charge freely for "frustration time" Most things can be done within a couple hours of hard work.

I suspect that Spoolin's PPF has a crack in it. As well as the pillow ***** being worn along with the diff mounts. I just took my 94 for it's first drive yesterday, and MAN do i need some bushing replacement all around I had forgotten how bad it was over the last 3 years of not driving it. And I get some mean clunking from the rear in almost any condition.

Really is that it? Yeah cuz when I take hard left turns I can feel the tranny rub on the tunnel, I posted a while back about that and no one knew.

I had the same problems. And I found out that I had a small crack on the PPF by the tranny, and ripped Diff Bushing.

$20 to weld the PPF, and I changed the diff bushings and its good as new.
