No check engine code, but when I tested it using the factory service manual (fsm) method it was not working. Ie 0 volts when
tapping the block with a hammer.
Ordered a new sensor. I have a rough idle, hopefully this is the cause. However it is a street ported sequential turbo.
Has anyone noticed an improved idle when the sensor is changed?
The fsm troubleshooting chart states that this will cause a rough idle at any coolant temperature.
I literally just changed mine last night. Are you on the stock ECU? A PFC does not use the knock sensor for anything but a reading, but the stock ecu will pull timing. Does your old one look like this?
Describe your rough idle for me. I changed mine because I felt like it was intermittently sluggish at low rpm. Also, no change when tapping with a hammer. From what I understand, you need some kind of fancy meter for that. But I suppose I could also just try it again with the new sensor. Going to drive it to work in about 25 min. I'll let you know if anything is noticeable.
Did the test with both my old and new knock sensor. No response when tapping the hangar with a hammer.
I wouldn't say there was a huge difference with changing out my knock sensor, but everything seems smooth drives great. Damn sensor was super expensive though :P
