Bad Gas Mileage?

I just did a search, and found that most people are getting more gas mileage that I am. I filled the tank, reset the trip., and got to a hair over the half way mark and got 97 mi. I think thats pretty bad. Anyone agree? If so, what would u think would be the problem? I read that replacing the O2 sensor might help this, but I dont have 160 bux to spend. I found a thread on this forum that someone had found a deal to get them for 34, which would really help. If not the O2 sensor, then what other problems would cause this crap mileage? I need to replace my airfliter ASAP, which may be causing some of this problem as well, but if anyone can add anything else, or tell me that this is about the gas mileage that they get, then damn. I guess I am about to complain about my mileage.

First of all, our cars' gas meter sux ***. It's way off.
Don't go by it.
Fill up the car, reset the trip meter. Drive until you need to fill up. Check the pump when you finish filling up and see how much gas you filled up. The the mileage from the trip meter and divide by how many gallons you filled up.
Check you plugs and see if they are bad. One of the reasons why people get bad mileage.
You're gonna have to replace the O2 sensor sometime...

Its 17 city if you drive... with a baby foot. (wasnt it 17 city, 24 highway ????)

But if your a typical fd driver, and stock, expect like 13-15, or thats atleast what i think

Using vudoodoodoo's method I regularly get between 17 and 20 mpg with my stock 95 PEP, and maybe as high as 22 while cruising on the highway @ 80 MPH. I regularly use WOT, but unfortunately I only get to see redline maybe once or twice a week. Its my daily driver and has just less than 70K miles on the odometer.

What are you guys talking about??? In stock form the FD gets about 25 on the highway and about 19ish in the city.

OF COURSE IT DEPENDS ON YOUR DRIVING HABITS!!!

If you get into the secondary injectors everywhere you go then your going to get bad gas mileage in any car. If you stay out of the boost or at least stay under about 5psi of boost you'll get great gas mileage.

I'm making over 400rwhp with 850/1200 injectors and a Walbro pump. On the highway I'm getting 21mph and for a city/highway mixture that I drive on a daily basis I'm getting about 17ish. I'm not even finished tuning yet!!!

You guys need to check some stuff out, I'd check out your air filter, fuel filter, O2 sensor, maybe throw in some fuel inj cleaner a few times, and change your plugs. Also, keep an eye on how often you get into the boost, that will really suck the gas down

I drive pretty slow in the city. ****** pot holes everywhere lately. I still get like 15 MPG. My plugs and fuel filter are new.
I just got a Power FC, so I hope some tuning w/ help the mileage.

Maybe check to make sure your O2 sensor is hooked up and if so I'd probably change it. I'm sure its the stocker and has bit the dust by now.

Even in stock form with a new O2, new reman, driving easy, etc... in the city I only managed between 13-15 mpg. My gas mileage has stayed the same for me even after modifying the car.

Majority of FD owners I've seen get around 13-15 mpg in city driving. However mixing up some highway driving in there will increase the overall mpg by some.

There used to be an old FAQ on the net about 2 or so years ago. Even then it stated that around 13-14 mpg in the city was about average for the FD. Granted, you have some higher/lower, but that was the average.

I replaced my 100,000 mile fuel injectors recently and saw gas mileage in the city climb a couple miles per gallon.

17 in the city??? Yeah right. I find that hard to believe. Even if I drive like a grandma, I can't get over 12 in the city. But I get 23 on the highway, so I think my car is ok.

EPA rating for the FD3s (5spd) is 17 city / 25 highway
I have NEVER known anybody that gets better than 17 city, MOST get 15-16 city / 18-20 mixed and 22-24 PURE Hwy.
my AUTO runs 15-18mpg w 25/75% City/Hwy driving mix.

Yeah, and now comes along the RX8 (renesis engine) that supposedly makes a good reasonable 25mpg. BOO!! My car gets 13mpg city, and close to 20 highway.

Also considering the US is somewhat going to be in wartime or what not, i've seen gas prices climb 15 cents/week to a grand total of!!!! $1.99 Gallon/Premium

ok, I've replaced the plugs, the wires, the fuel filter, oil filter, oil, and all fluids. I'm not sure if my mech replaced the O2 sensor, and I was thinking that the problem with my mileage lies there, in addition to an air filter. Thx for the replies fellas.

I think realistic gas milage is 17city/23highway. I've never gotten 25highway. My average for both city/highway is 20mpg and/or 200-250mi/tank using the tripometer. The FD runs super rich at idle and the Apexi PFC can improve gas milage.

I get around 350-450 miles out of a tank. Even with upgraded injectors, ecu and fuel pump.

I'm guessing that's not all city, stop & go traffic?
