Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator?

I have a newly built engine and I'm running an Aeromotive FPR. The car isn't getting enough gas to start. Also the liquid filled pressure gauge is reading only 18psi when I'm cranking, I think the gauge might be broken also since it's only got about 1/4 of liquid left. We thought it might of been the fuel filter so we replaced it and it's still doing the same thing. Could it be a bad FPR??

did you adjust the fuel pressure on the aeromotive regulator? is your fuel pump working properly?

It's a brand new fuel pump, we had the FPR wide open and it was still reading about 18-20 psi

I would call aeromotive tech support and ask them how to test if its bad or not adjusted properly. I don't know how their tech support is, but ask for an engineer or actual person in the service dept. Sales/Customer service reps usually arent very helpful @ any company.

oh btw, where did you buy it from? I'm about to buy an aeromotive 13109 2morrow for my fuel setup. lol

i had a similar issue i thought it was the regulator, it turned out to be a dying fuel pump. pull your fuel pump and run some power to it listen to it and see if it sounds weak. i know the aeromotive FPR only uses a ball as the regulator and they rarely fail.

what kind of pump? if its an ND stock replacement type, i bet you pinched the o ring on it.

step 2 is to do a volume/flow test on the pump.

There have been some instances of this problem caused by improper installation.
Recheck your install.

Also make sure your feed and return fuel lines aren't backwards. Seen many people do that, you get WEIRD problems and not enough gas to run.

I'm running a Deatschwerks fuel pump, it runs 300 lph so I think it should be plenty. I'll check the install. We sprayed starting fluid in the engine and it'll start just fine until the lighter fluid is all gone.
