Mine was tight when brand new. Now it shifts like butter. How long ago was the shifter installed.

I like mine, though it is stiffer than stock.

Your going to have less of a mechanical advantage with the different pivot point but that's how you get the shorter throws.

Ya its normal. If the tranny was bad then it would grind going into gears or you can't get it into a specific gear.

many ssk will make shifting feel a lot more difficult than stock. especially if you aren't used to it. i actually prefer the feel of the stock shifter.

I installed the short shifter (MK1) that I bought from ebay a couple of weeks ago. I absolutely love it, however I have been experiencing increased noise from the transmission within the cabin now. I am getting alot of noise in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. 4th and 5th are still very quiet.
Luckily I don't get the rattling and vibration that others have experienced.

Anyone else been experiencing this increased tranny noise?

my b&m shifter is really stiff. I got used to it. The only problems i have with it are putting it into 1st gear is sorta hard, and shifting from 4th to 5th requires some muscle and a terrible angle.

i also installed the mk1, mind does make a little more noise in the cabin. I think its because the rubber boot does not fit around the mk1 tightly like the stock one. I'm gonna try to get the boot to fit tighter to see if it fixes the problem. But the noise is not in the tranny.

I put some material around the shaft of the new shifter to make the boot fit tight around the shaft. I then zip-tied the boot to the shifter to make sure everything was sealed. Not sure why I am getting so much noise still.
