Leaded and Unleded AvGas has additives to reduce Volitility and usually lacks the detergents that automotive gas has. also AvGas just looks cheap because the excise tax and sales tax are usually NOT included in the quoted "PUMP PRICE" JET fuel is Cheap because it is not GASOLINE at all but rather KEROSENE based.

If i have no cat how oftan are we talking about replacing the plugs? I doesnt matter how I cut it 108 AVGAS is way cheeper than 108 race fuel. I could live with replacing them once a month for the price diffance.

Av gas is not designed for automobiles and will not properly fuel your car. Above and beyond the possible lead which will destroy your O2 sensors it will not run as good as race fuel. If your engine is stock or even slightly modified, then even race fuel will actually slow the car down it burns slower than lower octane fuel thus eliminating detonation but if the engine isnt doing that then slower burning fuel wont help anything but drain your wallet. Dont do the av gas I have tried on higher compression engines and it sucks

RE AV GAS
is cheaper as ststed prior.. no tax... also caution is required as i believe it is produced with a slower burn rate= slow flame front.. Carter

A few years back I put AVGAS in my FD. It ran smoother, and the exhaust smelled like candy I stopped doing it because there was this big debate about it and its lead content, and back then I had only intake and CB. Now I have no cats and the PFC, and I am VERY curious to see how AVGAS will affect the knock readings, but the station that had it before no longer offers it . I gotta find a station that carries it again...

As several here have already stated, aviation fuel is NOT for use in cars, just like automotive fuel will NOT work in aviation engines. Browse some of the pilot forums, especially the small plane/ultralight forums.
One of the deals with av gas is all the additives that are formulated in for the fuel to burn at high altitudes.
Now, in the "old" (yeah, "MY" days!) of leaded fuels and high compression motors, you COULD gain some benefits by running a 10:1 auto-to-avgas ratio of fuel.
But the really technical guys of the time noticed that re-jetting of the carb was often required for maximum performance.
If anyone was to try avgas in a car engine today, I would not use anything but 100LL (low lead) and even then use it blended at a high ratio.
Gas is not gas is not gas here folks.....look at the toxic brews that F1 cars used to use. That stuff resembled pump gas about like Rosie O-Donnel resembles Britney Spears.....sure, they are both women but that is about it!

I run 100% avgas 100% of the time, no problems as of yet. Was recommended to run this by my tuner who runs it in all of his high hp cars. I do have the O2 sensor turned off from the Power FC since I know the fuel will clog it up anyway. My car actually idled much better with the O2 sensor turned off.

The other problems is getting around the tax issue. All the guys I used to know that bought avgas had to do it on the QT, as no one would pump it into a car as it is very illegal. It must suck having to transport fuel......

I bought a drum and store it in that. Actually the airport I get mine at said I could just drive up to the pump if I wanted to???? I don't know off the top of my head which type and octane it is, I will find out for you. I just go to the airport pump and get it. They only have one type at the airport I go to.
I am running ported engine, T04s, no cats, and everything else to go single, injectors, fuel pump, etc. I am sure it saved my engine on the dyno. One pull went to 12.5 a/f, yikes. Made good power at that a/f though .

The caviat about pumping it into you car at the airport is that they (The FBO) are then required BY FEDERAL LAW to charge you Federal excise taxes and BY (in most states) STATE LAW, state excise and road use taxes - in CA this runs to about $.559/gal
