Autometer triple pod
Autometer triple pod
I just got my Autometer triple pod today in the mail. I lined it up to see how it would fit and man I dont know. I cant see how that could possibly fit without hacking the hell out of it.
Did you guys have to hack it to get it to fit ot am I missing something? Thanks.

I installed mine. I removed the stock cover because it will not fit snug the way I liked it. Then I ran into another problem which was how to keep it up! I wasnt into drilling a hole in it, thats why I got it in the first place to be flush! So I tried double sided tape, stayed there for a total of 3 hours before the heat got to it. So I got desperate so we VERY careful application of JB Weld in the places where it holds I got it in. I'll take a picture for you guys to see.
I have one in mine i didnt have to do anythang to it. It fit great. I love it. It didnt fit untill i put the gauges in it. Havent got to use it yet still dont have the motor in the car but looks good i thank. Is anyone while driving not able to see any of the gauges easy?
It can go over. Actually, I don't know how you'd replace it. There's nothing for it to lock on to. You have to remove the stock pillar to have it fit over it. If you try to position it with the srocker in place, it will either not work or be a PITA to get it to work I recommend doing that first, then placing it back to make sure it lines up the way you want it. Then mark it the way you want to so you don't loose the position and drill the holes for the retaining tabs, or whatever you want to call them.
If you do it right, you can get them so they're positioned so that you can't really see them. It is a tight fit, but I'd rather have that than a loose one.
Something else I did that will help. It's not going to be easy to run the wiring between the pod and pillar. At the base of the pillar where it meets the dash, it's flat. There is however room behind the pillar. I cut a hole where the bottom most pod is and ran my wires up behind the pillar, then through the hole and up to the respective gauges. It fits great!
Best pic I have for now.

I know I'm resurrecting an ancient thread but I recently was chastised for creating new threads. I've searched and this was the best thread so far so here it goes.
How do I get the A-Pillar cover off without breaking it? Do I have to remove part of the dash or is there a way it comes off without doing all that?
Thanks,
Jeremy

You pull the A-pillar off starting with the top. It will take some effort, and it will feel like it's close to breaking, then the top clip will dissengage. Then just pull the rest going down.
When I put mine on I removed the stock A-Pillar, put the gauges in mounted it up. I have a rubber pad that keeps it attached to the pillar wall. It looks stock and I have had no problems for over a year now.
Good Luck.
Good Luck.
I have the autometer three guage pod. It fits right with out mods or removing the piller cushion. The flat bottom section needs to slide down between the dash and piller area. This is possible if you infact have the correct part for the FD. I have had mine in and out without problem.
