auto to manuel swap?!

my car was swapped from an auto to manuel before i got it. I have a Front mount inc, koyo rad, dp, mp, dual n1, power fc commander. My question is my tach reds the 7k redline, but is my car still good up to 7400? i still have the automatic tach in there so i have been shifting at 7k, just wondering if my car is still good for what the other manuel FDs do 7400 or 7500?

"Manuel, I want to go faster now, please change the gear ratio!!!"

Try it. The parts that caused the redline to be set lower (by Mazda) before are gone now, so you won't hurt anything by trying. However, I don't know if your car will still have a rev limit (cuts engine power at a certain RPM) below 8000 RPM. Did you swap the ECU? Does the auto ECU have a lower rev limit (idk)?

My FD was also swapped from an Auto to a Manual before i bought it... Redline says 7000rpm... I don't push it more then that even if I could... the only effect mine has is car shakes a little because od automatic wiring... I need an ECU.

I have noticed my rev limiter often is a little late on actually 'limiting' the rpm on many, many occasions. I've hit 7500 - 7600 several times on hard acceleration. I think the old 8-bit CPU in the ECU is sort of like....sleepy....at times.

I have the power fc and commander so the ecu has been swapped...i mean i hit 7500 and the car was still pulling strong. I just wanna make sure the only thing holding it back before was the ecu and not the engine, sounds silly but just really paranoid about my baby. the engine can handle the 8k redline right? my power fc lets me control when i want my rev limit. Stock its set at 8100. Iam just making sure that the engine will be ok doing the 8k?

The FD's engine can go WAY beyond 8K, the limiter is there for the accessories like water pump, alternator, air pump, p/s, etc.
Keep in mind that the rotor speed is 1/3 the rpm, so when the engine is at 9K, the rotors are lazily spinning along at only 3000 rpm.
You are fine.

Redline on today's cars (including the FD) does not mean the same thing as it did for the 1950s and 60s cars. The older cars had a redline that really meant never exceed rpm. Today's engines redline is the shift point for maximum performance. Never exceed RPMs aren't listed (as far as I know) but good business sense would suggest that the engineers designed the never exceed rpm to be somewhat close to the shift point. I personally think the fd never exceed rpm is well above the shift point.

^ Uh....actually that is not really the case. Most cars make their peak power somewhere way below the redline, so you really aren't gaining anything to rev to the limit. After all...we are not talking F1 cars here.
