auto to manual conversion
I'm new here and might be buying a 1993 rx7 with 65k miles. It's from a dealer and he offered me a good deal on my car. Only problem is that it's an auto and I don't really want an auto. How hard is it to switch to a manual and about how much. I tried the search but's obviously not working.

well i would pass it up but it's hard to find someone who will give you what you want for your car or that has the car that you want(except the automatic part).

i found one for around 13k automatic as well..i almost jumped on it but when i found out the conversion cost at least 4k from mazda dealer. new wiring harness, ecu, etc.. but i was planning on doing everything myself anyway. it just seem like it's too much trouble to buy a car for that much and not like it the way it is.

well here's the car i'm looking at.
"1993 MAZDA RX-7 TOURING auto, twin turbo, power sunroof, cassette, CD, leather, 67K miles, one owner, fully loaded, 100% stock, new engine @ 35K miles, full service records."
If I could sell my car outright I'd look for a manual but I'm having problems selling my car.

Well merlin3....think about the price of the car and plus the trouble of converting it to a 5speed. The car will be down for awhile. So from the start your FD will be already in the shop....oh well I guess you gonna have to get used to it LOL...But really I would pass it buy and wait. A buddy of mine has an auto and everyone bags on him....even the guy at our local junk yard. So be patient...remember...buying the FD is easy but maintaining her will be something else. Good Luck!

I don't think ejmack has finished that web page yet which is why it looks like it's cut off at the bottom. Here's my summary on the conversion - http://www.jrx7.com/auto5speedswap.htm
