Question auto to manual ? about the redline difference?

My car is still in the shop getting the manual tranny put in with a automatic engine, and i was wondering why the automatics have a lower redline. What cause the engine to have a lower redline, and for what purpose. I'm doing the conversion the right way,but there's no difference in engine blocks, exept the housing that mates to the tranny is slightly different.Right? I just want to make sure i can rev up to 8000 with out problems.

I'm not sure if this is what COsborne was trying to say, but from everything I have read, it is lower because the auto was not made to run up to 8000rpm. It will blow up (or something)

The Auto is redlined at 7000 (revlimiter at 7250) b/k the TORQUE CONVERTER is only rated for 7000 rpm, if you upgrade the TQ conv. to a High Perf Unit (like a Level Ten unit) then you can up the Auto redline to 8000 the trans will hold any gear to the rev limiter when using the HOLD button or whn the selector is in L (redlines 2nd) or S (redlines 3rd)

If you want to up the REDLINE & rev limiter to 8000 you need to change to a 5speed (if converting to 5 spd) or aftermarket ecu & change the inst panel. The printed circuit on the back of the panel is different between the AUTO and 5spd panels, however the tach's may be interchangable but I don't know for sure.
