Unhappy Auto to Manual

I know it has been covered before many times, but I find it hard to really understand what has been said. I am not very electrically inclined, so illustrations or pics would be nice of how to do the wiring. I have a 93 touring automatic that I have had the motor rebuilt with a manual rear plate. The motor has a 40R turbo kit, 1000cc primaries, 1600cc secondaries, Power FC and the manual engine harness. I do however have the automatic harness from the firewall back. Everything seems to have power, all of the dash lights come on and everything seems normal except when you turn the key.......NOTHING. It doesn't sound like any relays are clicking and the motor is not turning over. I dont understand what the problem could be. Do I need to jump the Neutral switch and the park switch? Or what? I am not really sure. I bought the car a year ago and I have never heard it run. I am just un-nerved now. Please, any info or input would be appreciated. Thanks

Dee

I would venture to guess that the ECU is seeing an open circuit such as "transmission not in park or neutral' and saying, "I'm sorry Hal....I can't let you do that....", since you used the auto's harness part-way(?)

I know MachineHead simply spliced into/modded his auto harness when he converted his white FD to manual. He's an auto mechanic and so reading the schematics of the harness was NBD for him. A while ago I talked to him in person at the shop he used to work at just around the corner from where I live. I don't know if he still posts here or even if he has the car. I know he had some issues with the engine when he went for big power.

My suggestion is to get the factory manual and make a blue print sized enlargement of the relevant wiring schematics at your local Kinkos, which should have a blueprint copier. Then study the schematics, use felt pens to color code the lines, then tag your hardware correspondingly until you know it physically and conceptually. Call Petit, KD Rotary, Pete Farrell, and talk to the people who've done these conversions many times. You'll figure it out.

Good luck!

i know that you not only need the 5spd engine harness but also the 5 spd ring harness with actually connects to the ECU or near the ECU. I bet your problem may lay there if you did everything else correctly

Starter interlock Circuit - How did you do those two wires ? Did you run them to the clutch pedal ? The auto SI circuit is different, it runs two wires down to the auto tranny and allows starting in Park. Look at connector X-05. Find the big blue/white wire and the big brown/red wires. Jumper them together and it will start. Caution - it will start in any gear, clutch pushed in or not. This is how I have my car since the manual conversion - I am aware of the circuit and know to push in the clutch every time.

Thanks for the input guys. I have my mechanic looking at this now. Anyone else have any input. Remember, I have a MANUAL ENGINE HARNESS in my car and the rest is auto. Is there a way to make this work or do I need to go back to the auto engine harness? Thanks

Thanks everyone. The beast has started. I put the auto engine harness back on the car. And I jumpered the wires together that badddrx7 told me to. The car fired right up. Thanks again everyone.
