Auto electricians UNITE! Custom light problem.

Guys,

I have re-amemiya rep lights (home made)

However im struggling to get them to work how i want them. As we all know, the FD uses one earth, and two lives for its headlight system. Lets call them -, +1 and +2. - is earth all the time, +1 is only live when dipped beam, +2 is only live with full beam.

Im trying to get one lamp of my lights on under dipped beam, and both on under full beam.

I currently have +1 connected to + on lamp 1. - on lamp 1 is connected to - on car loom. +1 is ALSO connected to the output of a relay (i.e the outlet of the circuit to be SWITCHED)

+2 is connected to the inlet of the SWITCHING circuit of the relay (i.e the point you apply live to in order to switch the circuit) and it is also connected to the inlet to the SWITCHED circuit. The outlet of the SWITCHED circuit is connected to the live of lamp 2, the earth of lamp 2 is connected to -

The idea being at dipped beam, the relay isnt in use, so +1 just powers lamp 1. When +1 goes dead and +2 comes on, the relay opens, bridges 12v accross the switching circuit back out to lamp 2, and 12v acorss the switched circuit to lamp 1, so both come on.

However, what is happening is that when im at dipped beams, all works ok. Ive only done one side of the car with a relay at the moment (the other side just has +1 to lamp1+, +2 to lamp2+ so only one works at any time)

So yeah, when i go full beams, lamp 1 stays on on the side with the relay on, lamp 2 does not come on. However, lamp 2 on the OTHER side of the car comes on and STAYS on even with no full beams on?!

I dont get it, can anyone help?

you dont need an extra relay. you just need to jumper 2 wires under the steering column. i forget which ones exactly but just look at the wiring diagram and bypass half of the high beam relay. this relay switches from low to high so just make sure the low is always connected.

actually i was cleaning up my desk tonight and i found my notes on this. just connect the r/y wire to the w/g wire in connector x04 which is the one right under the steering column.
