Would you use this fuel in your Series III Rx7

BOOST 98 is a high performance petrol with an octane of 98, which is the highest rating available in the Australian market. Ethanol is a natural octane enhancer - adding 10% ethanol to petrol boosts its octane number and its performance. Ethanol helps the other components in petrol burn more completely. It also has a cleaning effect on the car’s fuel system. BOOST 98 will give your car more zip!

over here we're starting to see E85 ethanol at certain stations and there are lots of them at every majoy city and along the major highways in between.

over here our e85 ethanol is something like 100-105 octane

No it cools the intake. A LOT. There are some 2nd gen turbo owners who use ethanol injection to provide extra cooling to increase the boost and get 500+wHP without popping the engine. They have a second tank for the ethanol so they can inject it only when needed (under high boost). But running a car with ethanol (or a blend with ethanol in it) in the gas tank works too. It just costs more to burn all that ethanol when you aren't boosting.

That said, I think this guy is a spammer. But he doesn't seem to be a very good one. He seems harmless.

Oh yeah, nowadays most brands of gas already contain 10% ethanol.

Oi !!! Not a spammer just an idiot !!!! LOL

I meant GEN3 FD Series 8 (EIGHT).... I have a 2000 model and was wondering if ethanol mix is safe in these cars. I have done a bit of reading and sense it is not good, but would value those that have or are using it

I repeat... I am no retard spammer !!! LOL

Why is it humans are always so fast to judge someone negatively !!! In this day an age calling someone a 'spammer' is like calling them a 'molester' ... neither of which I am.. I just want advice thanks not insults

Well...you didn't ask any questions, so I don't see where there's room for advice to be given.

Additionally, you were talking about S3 RX-7s(which are first gens, which I think you know) and S8 RX-7s(which 90%+ of members of this board will never get to see, touch, taste, own, etc) and some random ethanol product in Australia...

Seemed like a spammer at the time

Yah just an honest guess, not an insult.

10% ethanol is perfectly safe, and quite common like I said. Too much more than that and you might damage the fuel system, screw up the tuning, corrode the motor, etc. So how do the TII guys use so much? They retune, and they inject directly into the intake (alcohol doesn't touch the fuel system). As for corroding the motor... I didn't say that their engines lasted that long, heh.

You realize that it's not just FC owners who do this, right? Chemical intercooling is very common.

ethanol is corrosive to the stock rubber lines IF you run more than 10-15% gasoline/ethanol mix. most newer cars that are 'flex fuel' (run e85 or normal gaoline regardless) use hardlines almost completely or they use some other elastic tubing that can resist the corrosive properties of ethanol.

BUT, ethanol is not all that corrosive the way certain ppl make it out to be.

I don't remember exactly but I've read something about ethanol creating more heat during combustion. It was in an automotive magazine, I believe in "modified mag" there was an article talking about the whole gas quality and how ethanol blend is better for the environment and the emissions but the downside was that it produces more heat during combustion. This article was all about the blend, not separate injection of ethanol and gasoline.

I'm curious as to why a product would market itself as giving your car more "zip", when a higher octane rating clearly decreases horsepower if the vehicle is not tuned for it. Does this "high octane" fuel really burn better than any regular 93 octane with 10% ethanol?
