Question auto to 5speed electrical question

I have searched but there is a white clip on the 5 speed engine harness that does not terminate to the ecu...I think that it controls the starter (since I cannot get the car to start) and connects to the clutch switch on the pedal (I'm not sure though).

Very confused...removed the auto harness and replaced with 5speed harness...terminated ok to the ecu but there is a white clip the one on the top of the pic that comes from the engine harness but I cannot seem to find the reciprocating clip...the clip that attaches to it. In the pic the two white connectors do not mate.

I seem to have too many unconnected clips by the ecu....

The huge blue one (see pic)
The huge white one " "
The white clip from harness (I think comes from connections at the tranny by the shifter)
The black clip (goes to tranny ecu that was removed)
The smaller blue clip (no idea where this goes)
The one wire black clip (think it was always disconnected)

The other two single wires are grounds.

Might post some pics of the 5speed ecu are so I can kinda see where I screwed up.

Thanks so much!

Pictures unviewable. Says time has expired and need to re-log in.

Just went and looked at mine (finishing the conversion atm, just put in the motor and tranny and the drive shaft on the companion flange I bought from you.) I have two yellows to ecu, a white plug that goes up high on fire wall behind the dash and the blue plug that plugged into another blue connector and the unused black wire. Did you change the wiring harness around the front of the car? Thats where I got the blue connector from since I switched it. Seems to have eliminated the small box on the back of the ecu. Is the starter interupt switch plugged in off the clutch? Where did you route the clutch switch? I havnt done the clutch switch yet, was hoping I could get away with out it, but, sounds like it causes problems with idle.

Hey Nick, sorry I missed your call. You said your number too quick for me to catch on the answering machine. I'm headed out to help my niece on her home work, should be back in around 7ish if ya want to call back then.

What's up guys. I wish i could help. I'm also planning on converting the auto to Manual on my FD, that's why i'm paying close attention. A few questions though, From Where do you guys recommend on getting the Wire Harness, ECU, and other parts i'll need. It has to be the same year of the car Right. 94

Yes, all items need to be of same year. I got all my parts from a forum member that was parting out his car, including a ported motor, except the companion flange which I bought from cover8. Keep an eye on the parts section and your area forum for cars being parted is my best advice. If I were to sell my old motor, which isnt blown, and tranny I figure I could probably recoupe all but about 1k for the conversion (doing all labor myself.)

Hmm, kinda at a loss as to those wires Nick. My harness had a total of 5 connectors, Im counting six on yours. Gonna head out the garage and check it out and report back.

Thanks for the feedback sjs...the white wire partially obscured in the first pic is the only wire not terminated from the engine harness. The other wires coming from the engine harness have already been terminated into the ecu. Just seems like so many unterminated clips. The white one from the engine harness is most troubling since I think it controls the starter, clutch switch etc etc.

The remaining wires in the pics are from the ecu area and NOT from the engine harness which is very mysterious.

Please keep the feedback coming since this seems to be the only conceptually difficult hurdle to getting my FD off jackstands!

thanks

Yea, the white connector from the engine harnes I believe does go to clutch switch etc. And doesnt plug into the auto dash harness as I tried that working blind (dash is together still) and they are two different sizes. Fortunatly for me I do have the 5 sp dash harness, was hoping not to have to use it since it has been heavily modified and I dont fully trust it, but if Im going to have to tear the dash apart to rewire I might as well switch it out I guess

Wish ejmack1 would chime in here as I believe he did the conversion and did all his own wiring. On the plus side though I was able to get everything else together last night/early this morning. Minus side I ship out tomorrow till August or November If I dont get this going today Im gonna be sooo bummin hehe.

Thank you for you feedbaack sjs and Mahjik for hosting the pics!

Ok here is what I know please correct me if I am wrong:

1) The single black clip (like in the second pic next to the big blue one) is not connected to anything (fan recall)

2) The big blue one (vox connector?) in the second pic is not connected to anything either (another recall I think)

3) The small black connector about 1" long 1/2" wide with multiple pins is for the auto tranny/auto ecu

4) The white engine harness clip controls clutch switch, reverse light, 1-2 etc

Unknown clips left

1) A blue connector similar in size to the black connector that fits the tranny ecu from the auto????

2) Which wires to jump to complete and start switch.

thanks for your help...maybe this will clarify things for anyone else attempting to complete this for themselves.

Ok! Finally got the car to start! I went into the driver's side quarter panel and disconnected the started interlock relay. It consists of four wires--two smaller (speaker size) wires and two larger wires...I used two male spade connectors crimped to 1.5" wire and jumped the only two larger wires on the clip and left the clip disconnected from the relay.

The went to the pass side quater panel and jumped the only large wires on the VOX connector (second pic--chuge blue clip connector). Took two female spade connectors crimped to one wire and jumped the only two large wires on the clip.

The car turned over without incident...couldn't start it since I do not have coolant or oil in my car yet.

Anyway, I have pics but left disk at home will post later.

What is left now is to connect the speedometer and rear brake light....

hmmm...any ideas Forum members?

well, not so fast....the car turns over and fuel pressure about 40psi but will not start!

Does the 1-2 switch, neutral, or backup need to be connected for ignition.

Have not removed the plugs to check for plugs...would like some wiring colors for the 1-2, nuetral, and backup.

thanks

My car was flooded after it was down for a while being worked on...did the ATF trick and fired right up. Have a video of the smoke screen too. I'll try and get it posted later if anyone is interested in seeing that has had the chance to experience it first hand.
