Attn: Tein HA Owners

I wanted to ask everyone a question. I am seriously considering getting a set of these coilovers and have done a search and read threads for several days now.

What I would like to know from each of you is if you had the chance to buy these coilovers:

1. Would you do it again?:
2. Change to a different spring rate.
3. Use pillow mounts or not.

Just so that everyone knows where I am coming from I will be using my car for primarily street use along with occasional events at Summit Point and VIR. I currently have a set of single adjustable Koni Yellow's and Blue PFS springs, but I noticed I had a bad rubbing problem when I went to VIR. So I need to switch to coilovers, but I haven't heard good things about the Ground Control kit. So I would like some advice on the Tein HA's. Thanks.

- Cody

I like them but I would not buy them again just cause I always like trying new stuff. They are good and 24 way adjustable so you can set them pretty soft or hard.

My car is 99% street driven so I didn't get the pillow ball mounts. Their pb mounts are solid and makes for a rougher ride on the street.

Actually it is only 16 way adjustable. It has 24 clicks to the settings but in the instructions it tell you how to set them up and to never go over 16 soft. Yes they are great street performers and if you need a little more stability, just a few clicks away. They were a great price and IMOP a great product, I'am happy with them.

I agree, I didn't get the pillow ball mounts because I'am 99% street driven.

I've got them with the pillow ball mounts. 98% street driven, I love them! Run them around town an about the middle, a little softer for longer cruises. Full soft @ the strip.

I would get them again, I haven't heard anything from anyone else who has anything they like better.

why do you run it full soft at the strip? is that what most people do?

Actually....mine have 32 adjustment points, not 24 or 16. Several others have also confirmed this. Why not run them full soft (below 16 clicks soft?) I do this on a daily basis. Ride is about equal to the touring with a bit more jounce due to the higher spring rates.

It helped me put a stop to wheel hop. I should clarify...full soft in the rear. I didn't touch the front, I think they were set in the middle. I assume it helps with weight x-fer as well, allowing the car to "squat". I'm new to dragging, my first time was Saturday, ran a 12.2 @ 114.

That's just what the instructions say not to do from TEIN. I have no idea why.

i've never dragged so i was just asking out of curiosity. i would think you don't want your car to squat for best times. anybody know how the pros do it, or can give a physics lesson on why softer rear settings would be better for time?

yup, i'm looking at the pdf on their web site, says only to use level 1-16, damage to damper can occur otherwise.

What spring rates did you guys get (in English units)? It looks like you can specify custom spring rates.

I didn't know you could pick different one's. I thought the HA ment that a certian spring came with them, oh well. I just recieved the ones that came with most HA non-specific springs. I don't remember the spring rate and I'am to lazy to look it up right now.

hi cody, im also looking to go the way of tein.
but, im going to save up some more $ and get the hyper flex with the edfc. this unit is, specified by tein, 32 way adjustable from the cockpit via a control box with a display to show you what you are doing. it automatically sets the front and the back the same, respectivley. check it out, this way, no more manual shock adjustments= no more dirty fingers, and all the high end sports cars have these stock, so needless to say im trying to better my fd with the same helpfull technology.

With the rear set to 8-12 I got mad wheel hop and 2.5 - 2.6 60' times.

When I set the rear to 1 I got no wheel hop and 1.9 60' times.

You may have to experiment with your setup, I'm just sharing my experience(s).

I run pretty hard on the front and increase front tire pressure by a few psi at the track. In the rear I run full soft and 16-20 psi on street tires. The idea is to shift the weight to the rear of the car to the rear tires for traction. Works good for me.

I'm actuall more interested in road race settings than drag race. I take my car to VIR and Summit Point on occasion.

It depends on too many variables. Tires used (street tires, r compound, sizes) type of track, ride height, corner weight, dailing it out for oversteer or understeer, etc...

Is everyone happy with the springs that come with the shocks or would you suggest changing them to a different spring rate.

I'm happy with the springs it came with. Adjustable from Caddy soft to pickup truck bouncy.
