Attn . . . owners of 1995 models

This month is an anniversary of sorts.
Our 1995 model was built 10 years ago this month (December, 1995).

I am curious how many owners of 1995 models are on this forum.

Also ... what is the last three number of your serial number - and what month was your car produced?

It would be interesting to know how many of the 500 cars (for the 1995 model year) were made in December, 1995.

By the way, the date is with the VIN number on the car.

let me guess... you want the vin number so you can post it up on egay or autotrader so you can scam someone saying its UBER rare since its a 1995 etc etc....I COULD be wrong but thats just my guess

By this time in 95, most all of the 95's had already been shipped to the USA. I suspect that most of them were built before in June or July, since they needed to be in USA dealerships by October 1st.

Mine was built in April 1995, and there were some before me. If I remember correctly, our cars were built on the same assembly line along with Miatas and I think one of the minivans....the MPV?...not a solely dedicated assembly line. (Somebody will have the correct info.) By the time they got to '95, the RX-7's were coming few and far between. I've always thought the build (assembly) quality on mine was pretty good, although some of the materials could be pretty mediocre, and I've wondered if the fact that so few were being produced at that time may have worked in the car's favor.

Since only 500 1995 models were produced, I was therefore wonderiing when some of the earlier ones were produced. For example, most of the later ones were produced in 12/95 ... and I was just wondering about the earlier 1995 models.
Also, don't feel you need to put your exact number You can just list 0xx, 1xx, 2xx, etc.
For example mine is 4xx and was produced in 12/95.
There are few 1995 models - and it would be interesting to list your build date.

I had a 12/95 VR Pep, #41x

I sold it for a '93 CYM though (only 350 of those )

I think the new owner is still on the boards here somewhere, hopefully it's still running well.

Simon.

My serial number is in the 100's and it was built in 04/95, so as I say, they were coming few and far between. They probably hired the Maytag repairman to put the things together. I ordered mine from the dealer and it took some doing to get it. It took weeks for the car to be delivered in Aug. of '95. They still had a big backlog of unsold '94's and their priority seemed to be moving those cars rather than distributing the 95's which were still sitting at the port.

You have to remember that the production numbers you read about are for the U.S. only. Mazda still built this car for other world markets long after it disappeared from the U.S. So, it's highly unlikely that there were major changes between the build quality of a '93 vs. '95.

Now, I would be willing to bet that the later year model RX-7's got better (however minutely) due to technology advancements.

Production had a big drop overall. They didn't sell that many worldwide either. They were trickling out. And there's always a learning curve ----- or there should be. The more you do something, as in putting a car together, the better you should get at it. And, if you're not rushed, you have time to get it right.

Over time they probhably got a lot of warranty claims from people abusing them, not warming them up properly etc... I know that today the dealer usually knows less about the car, than you can read on the internet, think about it back then....

Not to mention Gas in the US is anywhere from 91 - 94 Oct. for premium depending on where you go... all sort of point in the direction that the US market, maybe wasn't the best to sell high end rotaries to...

I seriously doubt they were trickling too slowly since Mazda redesigned the car two more times and continued to produce it until 2001 for other markets. Its emissions became a woeful thorn in mazdas side and comming into 1996 when OBD2 became mandatory they had no realistic way to make the car pass, and with a substantial drop in interest in the car in the states anyways they decided to drop trying to make a brand new ECU for the US market and just sold the car to more lienient countries. Substantial improvements were made by switching to a 16bit computer from our 8bit unit as well as 100s of components being revised as time went on.

they made "95" fd's all the way up to 12/20?/95, last vin i think is #527, or maybe 529? i have a binder....

actually thats kind of a neat bit of trivia, there were no 1993 usa spec rx7's built in 1993, they were all built in 1991-1992....

Yeah, trickling. They made thousands of 93 and 94 models. Only 500 95's. And it's not like sales in the other markets took off. They plodded along at a lower level.

Same thing happened with the NSX. The car had very, and I mean very, low sales but Honda / Acura continued to sell and improve it because they considered the car "an image leader."

Hi, just joined the club, been reading here for years finally decided to join. I'm up in Canada, Vancouver, British Columbia. I have a 1995 Red. I'll get the dates today and post them. Wonder how many were sold in Canada. I here mine is very rare. Was it true in 1995 they just had options, not touring, base, etc.?? Mine is fully loaded. Nothing missing. Check out my picture I just added. Later guys, Kent.
