Hello all.

My alternator died and I am having a bear of a time removing it.

All bolts out, but the last one, the alternator adjustment bracket bolt at the bottom (attached to the waterpump) is not coming free.

I have not put full force on it - or tried a cheater bar because I have a fear of shearing the head off. I will try PB blaster, but before I go off into the weeds, is it possible to get the alternator out without removing or loosening the adjusting bracket?

Also, while looking at the rat's nest behind the alternator, I can see that one of the nipples of the spider manifold is uncovered (see pic) anyone have any idea where this should be attached?

The car runs fine, but the idle IS a little lumpy.

I was able to get the alt out without removing or loosening the bracket bolt. Just had to lift the pivot side out.

But the question about the uncovered hose still stands.

If I cannot find an answer, I think I will put a hose over it and make the hose long enough that I can get to it at a later date if necessary.

 

That's a common question, that pipe is only used on cars with automatic transmissions. If you look in the vacuum diagram it will show it as an empty pipe.
