AST FMIC Questions

I'm installing a FMIC and have a couple questions surrounding the AST. Does anyone make a clean looking bracket that would hold the AST right around where the alternator is? If not, where are you guys mounting?

For the AST hoses, would black rubber hoses from an auto parts store work for rerouting purposes?

My choice of aftermarket SMIC was designed to use the OEM AST and didn't play well with my aftermarket version.
FWIW I just (properly) deleted it using brass AN fittings and a S5 FC filler neck extension. That was 6 or 8 years ago with absolutely no issues.

If you have the airpump removed i used to mount my AST in that location by just getting a long bolt and a washer/nut. Check my build thread.

Have others done this? I've done a fair amount of research and surprised I hadn't come across this....are there any cons?

Yes tons of people have done it actually, including myself. The only real con is when changing coolant the air bubbles are a litte harder to get rid of. To be honest, that is no problem at all.

Just search AST delete and you will find information on the subject.

I'm not one to cavalierly rip stuff off of the car. I lean toward fixing rather than removing. But like I said, my aftermarket AST didn't really fit well with the PFS SMIC so the issue was somewhat forced. I bought the S5 filler neck which effectively leaves a small dead space above the coolant level...allowing air to escape and simulating the AST function. The biggest 'con' I ran into was changing coolant...which I do annually. For the first couple years it took a little longer to burp the system fully. After that I bought a Lisle funnel Lisle 24610 Spill Free Funnel - Walmart.com ...it's a piece of cake now.

Making sure I have all of the necessary parts for this..so basically I need the FC cap in the link below

1) 86-88 Rx7 Radiator Fill Cap with Body...

And the Funnell to properly burp the system.

2) Lisle 24610 Spill Free Funnel - Walmart.com.

And then just connect a hose from the FC Radiator Cap to the coolant reservoir...do I have this right?
