Asp intercooler question

How much difference does the extension duct to the main duct help airflow and cooling?

When I bought my ASP med setup it didn't come with the extention duct, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to source one or fab one up.

Thanks for any input.

i don't know about the ASP intercooler, but i use the Pettit Racing duct for my custom-built smic. i added an extension to the duct myself, and i did noticed a difference.

Any little bit helps, make it up out of a thin sheet of aluminum from Lowe's and pop rivet it in place.

I could not see any measurable difference and it does block the radiator quite a bit. I used to remove it in summer and install it in the winter.

Significant difference, anyone who tells you otherwise hasn't tested it good enough. (not directed at moconnor) We had a car here with no duct on it that would get two pulls on the dyno if lucky. This is with more fans blowing every which way possible. Once we made the duct problem solved with just the one fan put up front. AIT's dropped significantly also(not just on the dyno). Not only does it help keep radiator air from blowing directly on the core somewhat it also makes sure air gets to the face side of the core. I got stuck making it out of aluminum. No I wont make another one

If you mount the scoop, it does seem to direct more air into the intercooler from the opening. Otherwise the end of the duct is actually above or just at the level of the front mouth opening.

Probably helps a bit for slower speeds, less so at high.
