Hi guys...
Perhaps a newby question..but nonetheless..i'll learn and never ask again.
Just installed this new ASI AST. When installing the cap, do I turn it as far clockwise as possible then push down the red lever...
or do i turn just to the 1st click, then depress the lever. I want to make sure I have this thing on right

Eric--turn it clockwise (with the red cap up), until it clicks into place--that will be as far as it can turn. Then, flip the red latch down. The install was easier than you thought, wasn't it?

THAT ONE IS THE BIGGEST PAIN IN THE *** IMAGINABLE. The only thing worse, would be a single turbo install, IMO. I HATE to recommend it, but call your local dealer and ask them what they'd charge. I would have gladly paid upwards of $100 to avoid having to do that. If you don't have a lift, don't even mess with it.

I used my friend's shop (with a lift)--he's Lane_change on the forum. After seeing me struggle with it for well over an hour, he, Mr-Do-it -yourself, said that he'd never attempt it. It's not hard mechanically, but it's location is nearly unreachable--and you have to do it blind, with nothing but your hands. Even if you depressurize the system, you're still going to get drenched in gas.

I was planning on taking on the fuel filter myself too. Then I got under my car and took a look where it was at. Scratched my head for a second and said "forget that!!!!" I'll be glad to pay the dealer to handle that sucker. I have confidence in the dealer to at least change that!

i have done the fuel filter twice...once in my previous yellow r1 and once recently in my 95 mb base

the first time was intimidating, frustrating, and a PITA!!

but the second time was not so bad, once I knew what to expect...first time took me like 4 hours cuz i was fumbling around and getting gas all in my face and arm pits...second time I only dribbled a few drops of gas and it took only 20-30 minutes.

I just installed my ASI into my car only to see a nice puddle of coolant under my car. Turns out it leaks from the cap of the AST. Has anyone had any problems with theirs leaking on them from there?

went out and bought a new cap and the damn thing still leaks. Anyone ever get a defective one?

Are you closing the cap all the way? On mine, I turn the cap clockwise, then when it starts to resist, I have to push down on the cap and then turn it more before it finally locks down. I imagine if you didn't do this and just turned it until it stopped, it wouldn't seal properly.

yeah, follow what hashiriya siad, twist it on, then push down on it lightly and turn it as far as it will turn, then it will be seated properly

Yeah its on there all the way. But just to make sure I'll put it back on and see how it goes. Mine was pretty crappy to begin with though. Threading for the nipple on top was all messed up when I got it so I had to rethread and etc. Just gotta see how it goes.
