So are they going to be discontinued? or not? cause this will change my buying pattern.

Yeah, maybe a touch screen blue tooth commander or an ipod style adapter to connect your your stereo and control it from there. If the chip manufacturer was the case then all would be discontinued, but so far it looks like it may be just older and/or low selling models. It would make more sense for a v2 replacement then completely discontinuing the entire line.

The Microtech has built-in logging but can't run the OMP. So what does it have over the PFC+datalogit?

There is something no one brought up which may play a role in this which is ODBII. With my truck it went from replacement chips to plug in chip rewriters to the current allways plugged in piggy back controller connected to the ODBII port. If the ECU is replaced then i'm shure it would void the warranty as the dealer couldn't talk to the new ECU with the ODBII port.
Ver 2.0 maybe similar to SAFC NEO for the commander controller or possibly dash mounted.

The other drawback on the microtech is the inability to change the values of the rows. 8 vacuum, 8 boost that covers the range up to 28 psi. Who gives a **** about 28 psi since most of us will go up to about 17 max. With the PFC you can have how ever many pressure rows you want since you can change the values but even if you leave it at 10, 10 rows for 17 psi with the stock pressure sensor versus 8 rows for 28 psi with the microtech, which ones having to extrapolate inbetween data points, ie less resolution? The real turd with no support from the producers or the end users is the microtech for the FD.

Except that the stock ecu can't be re-written through the OBDI port ... That's right OBD >>1<<
The FD was prior to 1996 when OBDII was mandatory, and at best you get a flashing bulb out of OBDI since it was far less regulated... with the stock ecu you have to manually remove the chip and flash it, even so, try and teach it about a 0-5v signal from a GM 3Bar map sensor.... Good Luck !

Oh well... 1 minor discrepency.. Nobody is perfect. Doesnt affect the way ther cars run comparetively. I know. I have owned both. As everyone knows. Its all about the tune anyway. Not the box. I just like the less headaches.

Uh, the resolution makes the difference in providing a good and SAFE tune between rpm and load points. Why don't you compare a computer monitor running 640x480 and 1024x768? See a difference?
