Apexi PFC (urgent) help
Done a search on here and the net.
I have the chance of buying a PFC but it seems to be the wrong version, can I buy an adapter harness??? I have seen people mentions it but nothing 100%
Heres the original thread but I need to know ASAP and not many look at the managment forum.
Cheers

Cos its cheap thats the only reason. But as you say I'd rather have the right ecu if it was the same price. Might give it a miss as I might not be able to sell it on or its not worth the hassle trying to convert.
It's on UK ebay ATM for £77.

The model numbers are covered in the PowerFC FAQ -

It's a waste at that price - there's a reason it's so cheap, no one can use it. There do exist adapter harnesses, but you'd spend quite a bit and would probably never be able to find one.
Considering you can get a BRAND NEW PowerFC and commander for $750, it's a hard sell on most used PFC's.

buy the one for the right year, simple, just like everyone else, dont makeit complicated, in the lung run , you will spend more money triying to modify the wrong version and to make it fit, than buying the right one. waith like he said they are all over the place, just have to look harder and be patience

We all need a little wiggle room from time to time, and we don't need people chewing our asses for wanting to better our cars and try to save a few bucks while doing so. So maybe cut him a little slack eh?

I didn't win it anyway, I could have made a harness but I'll keep my eyes out for the right model.
I can afford a new one, but if its possible to get a cheaper one then why not?????
Cheers for the help guys.

I wasn't being negative or harsh. Is this "emo" day on the forum, or what?
Saving money on an intake or an ebay downpipe or something like that is a FAR different thing than buying the incorrect engine computer! Buy the proper PFC, you will avoid a lot of problems, including potentially grenading the engine. I would think that would be common sense.

I could have made the harness myself and had a PFC for a very cheap price, in the UK they cost quite a bit. Yea Its an **** about trying to match wires but thats what its all about.
Things get boring when they just plug in or bolt on, well for me anyway. I like to mess around and make/fit things. I get bored if it just bolts on but some people dont want the hassle of modifying things to fit. Fair enough.

I am all for creativity but this is a bad idea man.
If you take the time you will spend getting this 96-98 pfc to work in your car you could have taken that same time and worked at McDonalds and purchaced 2 New PFC's and a Datalogit with the money you would have earned.
Not to mention that this silly little unimportant thing called an OMP is different...
You want no part of this...

It's not that hard to do if you have the experience, I have rewired many cars before and install a few standalone systems that need the full engine harness re-wiring.
