Apexi N1 Dual Installed (Review with Pics)

I picked up a used Apexi N1 Dual cat back exhaust on Sat. afternoon. I installed it at 12am that night after I got off work. I had been PMing back in fourth with reza from the forums about a Apexi N1 Dual he had for sale. I was saving my money, when reza PM'ed me about one he saw on Craigs List for $250. Thanks reza!

I couldn't pass this one up. I ended up getting it, and installed it with the help of a friend. It was a fairly streight forward install (anyone could do it). The only trouble I had was a messed up stud (see pic). That part turned what could of been a 1 hour install, into a 2 and a half hour install.

The only problem I am having, is that my car will sometimes backfire . Is this because my ECU is tuned too rich? I also saw my boost jump to 12lbs, which I am a little worried about.

Overall, I am very happy with the sound and happy my car can finally breathe (with the exception of the stock cat). I think the N1 Dual has somewhat of a bad rep, but I like mine a lot so far. I was afraid that it was going to be too loud because of what I had read on the forum. I am plesantly surprised to find like I like the sound quite a bit. It was a great deal at $250! Thanks again to reza for giving me the heads up!

Yes, it has somewhat of a sleeper look. I like that it is a little different than the large single canister style that seems to be the most popular right now.

It's only quiet because you are still running the stock cat. Wait till you put on the midpipe.

Edit: Are you driving on your dounut?

its very loud without a cat. but then, other exhausts are too.

the backfiring is probably cuz your running rich and this exhaust flows pretty well. better rich than lean.

I realize that it is probably backfiring becuase I am running rich. I wouldn't care, except that I am trying not to catch the attention of the law.

I can't even imagine how loud it would be with a mid-pipe. I will be getting a resonated one just as soon as I can afford to upgrade my fuel pump and injectors.

Hi flo cat, resonated mid...doesn't matter...it'll be loud as crap! Mine was, but I had it for quite a while and lived with it. When I got the M2 catback, I couldn't believe how quiet my car got...I realized I was keeping my stereo volume pretty high in those days.

Your good opinion of the exhaust system was definately a swaying factor in the decision Overkill. Thanks!

I don't feel like it is too loud. I can't imagine that it would be louder then the single N1. I have heard much louder on other cars, although I haven't heard very many FD's.

Have had ny n1 dual for 3 years now and love it. Its a little loud with a gutted cat and down pipe but the exhaust leak i cant nail down up front is louder. It was the best looking when I bought it, and to me still is.
Looks stock......kinda
i like that one

I like the N1 but have to admit that I like the RB dual tip better. Just the way it is constructed, more than anything else.

I have the same thing, not sleeper and still pretty loud with a ported motor, and straight exhaust. I like it though. Good choice.

Can someone explain the point of the dual mufflers? It looks a bit over the top.

That racing beat one looks really nice in that picture - does it free up the exhaust flow as much though?

I think that the Racing Beat does NOT flow quite as much perhaps as the Apexi, but it certainly is quieter and perhaps better overall in fit and finish. Lots of N1 owners complain of melting the rear valance below the bumper.
