Anyone have any advice/pics on how to installe the Apeix Power Intake? Right now I have the hose that comes from the ACR going into the filter adapter that has the single side intake and that whole assembly is connected to the lower stock turbo inlet hose. The second filter has the airpump hose and the hose that connects to the LIM. I have an aftermarket BOV so one inlet is capped.

The filter with the single side inlet sits like right on my rad hose and the other I'm afraid will rub against the airpump pulley..... I don't have the brackets that usually comes with the set. Is this basically correct or did I do it all wrong? Are you supposed to be able to use the stock hoses? Do I need to trim them back a bit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

 

It looks fine, but you're right, the one on the right can rub on the air pump pulley if it's not supported in some way.

 

Thanks, I'll try to tie it away from the airpump. Do I need to worry about the lower filter sitting on the radiator hose?

 

YES! make sure it is not resting on it, eventually it will create a nasty kink that could ruin your coolent flow through the system. the intake should have come with brakets for the lower intake to rest on.

 

The rad hose has a foam sleeve on it so it should be ok. You could add some exhaust wrap if you're worried about it. There is always a controversy when it comes to air intake temps. Those under hood intakes get hot air from the radiator blown on them. The air temps leaving the intercooler are far more important.
I mounted an insulating board on top of the old stock air box mounts. It supports the intakes, insulates them, and forces the radiator air back toward the engine. Then I ran flexible 2" hoses under the headlights that bring in cool air from the front of the car.
Or you can get Headlight covers (Cwest or FEED) that have air inlets on them.

 

I would make some brackets if I were you. They arent all that complex. Just mount the bottom one (left in pic) to a stock airbox mounting point, then make a bracket going from the crossbrace that the ic is mounted to the second one. They make a bracket holding them together. 1/8 in Aluminum should work just fine and just bend it with a vice or somethin. I wouldnt go drivin around with them floppin around, your askin for trouble.

Had some clearance issues with the Apexi intake and there was no difference in performance. The car didn't even sound different.

The Greddy Airinix is a more effective high flow intake. The parts fit perfectly, and it comes with smooth pipes.

Just put these on as well and noticed a large difference in sound and performance over the crappy HKS intakes.

LOL, yeah. Actually the next in my list of upgrades to do.

 

Since you have the Apex'i intake, all you'll need is a small battery kit (or relocate your battery), and you can buy/use the ASP large ic I have for sale.

It won't fit in my car since I have the RE cold air intake. Bought it thinking it would.

 

Looks fine, you just need to ben up some brackets. Dont feel bad, the brackets I got with the kit didnt work and I had to really bend them before they would fit. Once the intake is supported it should be fine, mine was the same way before i put the brackets on.
