I think any front mount IC can be converted to a V mount with some custom fabrication, whether or not it will perform better than the ones you buy in a kit, eg Knightsport, is another story.
From memory the Apexi is a very thick yet narrow IC, therefore I don't think it would be well suited in a V mount position.
