Typically a remanufactured engine will run you ~$2000-$2500. many guys here got their remans from Malloy Mazda in VA. The rx7store is also now selling remans (http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=368&1=371&3=737 ) for $2299 + $900 core charge (everyone charges a core charge). Try a search for "remanufactured" or "Malloy" and see what that gets you.

If you already have a core and you want it rebuilt there are several quality rotary shops that will do it. I've heard nothing but good things about Pineapple Racing (http://www.pineappleracing.com ) and they are less than 2 hours from me, so that's where I'll be taking my engine when it needs a rebuild. I have 90XXX miles on my original engine and it was still pulling strong when I burned the clutch out last month.

As for what a rebuild entails, it varys based on how many pieces your builder reuses, and it's really more involved than just a simple response would do justice.

i just had my engine rebuilt at Rotary Reliability and Racing. they are in santa ana. i don't know where you are in CA, but if you are in So. Cal, then i would recommend them. they have pretty good prices, compared to other shops around here. believe me, i looked. they are good people too...they won't sell you something you don't really need and they are straight up with you. they have a website as well. rotaryracing.com is what i think it is.
