i'm New please inform me on...

Hi i am a Junior in high school saving for a new car. Let me get to the point. I'm interested in the 93 rx-7 i do not know what i should look for. I know good gas mileage is out of the question. How many miles is too much? Is a automatic or a manual a good first year car? Any good sites to buy rx-7's? Please give me any information you may have i appreciate it.

there's a little sticky at the top for newbies...read that first, then there are a couple of links in there to great sites that has plenty of info on the RX-7. that said, i would not recommend one for anyone in high school unless you are very mechanically inclined, have a dad that's really into cars, or are fairly well off financially. moreover, ask yourself if you're responsible enough for one, because i know i wasn't when i was in HS. good luck.

try the links up top in the sticky... you need to know that these cars will cost a LOT of cash... so you need to know that upfront... NOT CHEAP TO KEEP UP WITH!!! for an example i have spent right at $8000 to get my car in working order (bought with blown motor) this is all new **** and of course ported apex FC and so on... but the point is that if you are looking for something to race it will be more than i have paid... and that is after buying the car... so just remember it is not a honda and is NOT cheap to fix...

civic... just kidding, I'm not really sure how mechanically inclined you are so I suggest you to get your folks to get you a supra, they are much more relible. Ask yourself this, do you got enuf money to pay for a new engine/turbos or can you do it yourself? If the answer is no, you should probally look for another car. I suggest you to get a beater car to learn on (especially with the manual, fd's trannies are so friggen weak, you'll destroy one in no time if you dont already know how to drive stick). I personnaly bought a 500 dollar firebird ('86) to learn on and sold it for 700 bucks after I had tons of fun and learning experience in it!

Good luck dude

P.S. Actually you'll probally not need the rebuild and there is probally a 70-80% chance you'll run it in to something (especially if this is your first car, and in the rain, these cars are scary; I have not even driven in the snow with one yet but I can just imagine how bad it would be!). Sure 250hp does not seem like a lot but it can really get away from you when the car weights only 2800lbs. If you upgrade it, you can easily get up to 300-400rwhp.
