Went to Gotham and pulled my motor out today.
Front rotor shows detonation on all 3 faces. Housing is fucked too. Rear is good.
Possible causes so far: Bad fuel pump not getting high voltage, fouled spark plugs not firing, or injectors not spraying, or clogged fuel filter.
Look forward to taking care of all of these issues this week.
Possible good news is it doesn't look like any parts of the seals went through the exhaust, so my turbos should be good.

Plug not firing is out- can't blow a seal (ping) without spark. This isn't the Diesel cycle.
The fact that the car wouldn't start at all indicates to me that you either have a serious electrical issue or a lack of fuel.
The fact that you detonated points to lack of fuel. I suspect the fuel pump gave up the ghost, your injectors are bad (or the ECU is imporperly controlling them), or the fuel filter is clogged.
Does your PFC monitor fuel pressure and injector duty cycle?

I don't think they will replace the motor for free. Before it was working fine right? Detonation is usually from tuning error or something was malfunctioning. They can't babysit everyone's FD.

Of if you have the leading plugs not firing and only the trailing plugs, what issues would that cause? (other than a severe lack of power..) I can't see how that would cause a detonation anyway... there is still the proper amount of fuel, just not enough spark to ignite it all. Woudl the ignition hit the seals at a point in which they were weaker or something that woudl cause them to more likely crack?
edit: maybe the recent drop in temps caused a lean condition? would that make that much of a difference? (hit a low of 60deg the night of the 8th) http://www.weather.com/weather/pastw...48?when=090803

Lower air temp means more air density and thus more air. Yes, that CAN lead to a lean condition.
Well, for you guys maybe. My car just compensates with more gas.
Generally speaking, though- a 30 degree temp drop is not enormous- it should have been tuned well enough to handle that, wouldn't you think? Usually you get pinging with hot intake air, not the other way around.

Intake temps were normal after boosting a few times.
Lack of fuel, either by pump or clogged filter is what we're leaning towards.
Gotham and myself have reached a mutually acceptable agreement on the issue.

I went over there at lunch and saw all the parts.. Oddly enough, they look just like you said. Pretty easy to see a bunch of carbon build up on the leading side of the rotors, and the plugs were pretty fugly..
Cavell, BTW, the pair of socks you left in my car from teh failed ice skating adventure are now sittin in your CYM.

I guess "Mutually acceptable" could be taken a lot of ways. I'll just leave it at they're still gonna be my source for parts and service.
Plus we're gonna make my car faster this time. Details to be discussed after I open up some whoop *** on Sprayin Ray
j/k!
Greaaaaaaat, all I need is more crap sittin in my car!
